As if the base version of this legendary road rager wasn’t exclusive enough, Nissan has taken the wraps off a new 2014 GT-R Special Edition model that will go on sale here in September. Worldwide production of this super coupe will be limited to just 100 total units, of which 50 will be coming to America. The key differentiator of the GT-R Special Edition is its unique Midnight Opal exterior. A multi-coat finish applied by hand, this highly reflective, color-shifting paint transitions from deep purple to deep blue as the lighting and viewing angles change. To complement the car’s trick body color, the 20-inch lightweight RAYS forged-alloy wheels on the GT-R Special Edition feature a hyper-titanium color coating, which also is making its first-ever appearance in the U.S.

Other elements that make up this exclusive Special Edition package include a dry carbon fiber fixed rear spoiler similar to the one on the GT-R Black Edition and new GT-R Track Edition, plus a gold-plated serialized number plaque of authenticity in the engine compartment. The 2014 Nissan GT-R Special Edition will open at $112,590 – a $6,000 bump above the GT-R Premium model on which it’s based.
