Making its world debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show, the 2014 Jaguar XJR is set to become the latest member of the automaker’s formidable R-performance team. Along with this early glimpse at the new flagship of its sedan fleet that goes on sale later this year, Jag provided a few tantalizing details on what it’s calling "the most focused, agile and responsive XJ ever made." Highlighting that formidable list is a 542-horsepower version of the automaker’s 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that makes 470 horses in the current XJ Supercharged and 510 in the XJ Supersport.
The new 2014 XJR also nets unique chassis upgrades and aerodynamic tweaks that Jag says will endow it with supercar performance to match its superior luxury touches. Although additional specifics will have to wait its official unveiling, Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar notes: "The new XJR epitomizes the three pillars of technology, performance and contemporary design which the Jaguar brand stands for in the 21st century."
