2014 Cadillac ELR Starts at $75,995, Entering Showrooms in January

Today, Cadillac announced that its ELR electrified luxury coupe will begin popping up in showrooms across the country in January 2014. The all-new 2014 Cadillac ELR, based on its mainstream cousin the Chevrolet Volt, will also bring a starting price tag of $75,995 along with it, including a $995 destination charge. Those interested in purchasing an ELR may be eligible for a tax credit ranging anywhere from $0 to $7,500 depending on individual tax liability. This would lower the ELR’s asking price to $68,495, including a $995 destination charge.

Cadillac says that there are dealers all over the United States who are trained and certified to sell and service the ELR. Besides the dealer, prospective ELR customers can take advantage of their very own ELR Concierge Representative. These representatives are available to provide more information on battery care, home charging, scheduling of service, and news updates concerning the ELR. The 2014 Cadillac ELR will come standard with the usual wreath and shield amenities like Remote Vehicle Diagnostics, 24/7 roadside assistance, and a Premium Care Maintenance program. Additionally, the 2014 ELR will include an extended battery and propulsion warranty lasting 8 years or 100,000 miles and a 4 year or 50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. A 1.4-liter gasoline-powered electric generator and a 16.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack will power the upcoming ELR. The battery will be positioned along the centerline of the vehicle to provide optimal weight distribution. This combination is good for a range of 300 miles or a bit more and can drive up to 35 miles on electricity alone. Cadillac is waiting on final EPA estimation numbers.

Cadillac’s CUE infotainment and navigation system will come standard with the 2014 ELR along with an eight-inch touchscreen, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, and the Safety Alert Seat. Additionally, there are four driving modes – Tour, Sport, Mountain, and Hold-each of which allows the driver to dictate when battery power or the gas generator is employed.
