Although it will take a sharp eye to spot most of the changes, the 2014 BMW Z4 Roadster is set to roll into showrooms next spring with a series of subtle revamps to both its exterior and interior. For those with more high-profile leanings, this scintillating two-seater also adds a new Hyper Orange design package that steps up the visual impact of its cabin.
Variations on the existing Z4 theme commence with new LED light rings around the headlamps that add a signature BMW touch to the daytime running lamps, plus revised side gills on the front fenders and a new 18-inch V-spoke light-alloy wheel. Three new colors also will be on offer: Mineral Grey Metallic, Glacier Silver Metallic and Valencia Orange Metallic, the latter only available for buyers who opt for the Hyper Orange kit. All Z4 Roadster’s feature new high-gloss black accents and make Fineline Anthracite wood and Kansas leather available.
Checking the Hyper Orange box brings its own set of style tweaks, highlighted by black leather seats that feature a Valencia Orange stripe and contrast stitching, orange Alcantara door panels and an orange lower dash, all set off with unique metal-weave trim.
The trio of TwinPower Turbo engines in the U.S.-spec 2014 BMW Z4 will carry over unchanged with the sDrive28i getting a 240-horsepower/2.0-liter inline-4, the sDrive35i retaining a 300-horse/3.0-liter inline-6 and the range-topping sDrive35is being motivated by a more potent version of that T-charged six that makes 335 horsepower. The revised 2014 BMW Z4 will make its debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show next month. Pricing for the entire lineup will be released closer to the car’s actual on-sale date.
