Augmenting their fast and furious character with a unique measure of cosmetic flash, the 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX and Subaru WRX STI Special Editions made their debut appearance at the SEMA Show prior to going on sale here next spring. Both of these higher-profile/limited-production Subaru super sedans feature a Tangerine Orange exterior with Jet Black custom alloy wheels plus black side mirrors, front fender badges and exterior graphics. The WRX STI variant also comes with fog lamps. Inside, these Special Edition Subarus both have an STI-style black/anthracite cabin motif set off by orange contrast stitching and piping.

No changes were made to turbocharged powertrains or all-wheel-drive running gear in either car. The force-fed 2.5-liter flat-4 in the Subaru WRX Special Edition makes 265 horsepower which gets sent to each wheel by the standard Symmetrical All Wheel Drive while the 305-horse alternative in the harder-edged WRX STI is teamed with a 6-speed manual transmission, and augments its Symmetrical AWD with a Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD). It also gets Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) and a Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system with a track performance-optimized mode.

While pricing has not been announced for either car, Subaru has confirmed that it will only build 200 Impreza WRX Special Edition models and just 100 Impreza WRX STI Limited Editions.
