Having received a massive thumbs up in response to its original appearance at the 2011 SEMA show as a concept vehicle, the Chevrolet Sonic Dusk sedan will make a second trip to next weeks Specialty Equipment Market Association gathering in Las Vegas in production-intent form. Like its one-off predecessor, the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic Dusk sedan will feature a host of cosmetic and function upgrades aimed at pumping its appeal to young and connected buyers. Based on the Sonic RS, it comes with the 1.4-liter/138-horsepower turbocharged Ecotec four that can be paired with either the 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
Beyond its Ashen Grey paint and matte-finish trim on the grilles, door handles and license plate garnish, key exterior enhancements to the Sonic Dusk include a ground effects body kit, rear spoiler, and 18-inch Pearl Nickel alloys. Inside, this new super Sonic features seats trimmed in Jet Black leather with Mojave Tan suede inserts and Mojave accent stitching and tan-color door and dash trims, as well as Chevrolet‘s MyLink infotainment system, which can integrate a smartphone and stored media – via Bluetooth, plug-in outlet or USB.
"Just like we’ve done with Corvettes and Camaros, we’re taking another one of our core products and adapting it to our customers’ lifestyles," said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. "The reaction to the Sonic Dusk concept last year was overwhelmingly positive and proved customers are interested in a more-refined subcompact. We’re moving quickly to bring Sonic Dusk to Chevrolet showrooms." So far, there’s no word on an exact on-sale date or price.
