Making good on its promise to minimize sticker shock on the new generation of its perennially popular compact crossover, Honda has opted for an aggressive approach to pricing that sees the bottom line on each model rise by price an average of just $181 despite the fitment of $400 to $1,000 dollars worth of additional new standard equipment.
"For 2012, we’ve made critical upgrades to virtually every aspect of CR-V’s winning formula," said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales, American Honda Motor Co. Inc., "The CR-V represents an excellent value for customers with pricing remaining relatively unchanged compared to the outgoing model despite the addition of numerous new features, improved fuel economy and enhanced utility."
The entry-level front-drive CR-V LX now bases at $23,105, with the CR-V EX opening at $25,205, the leather-lined EX-L commanding $27,855, the new EX-L RES model (with rear-seat entertainment system) beginning at $28,555 and the CR-V EX-L with Navi arriving at $29,355 – a figure that actually reflects a $300 price decrease from its 2011 counterpart. Opting for all-wheel drive on any 2012 Honda CR-V variant will add $1,250 to the package.
