Having recently revealed the restyled 2013 Audi R8, the automaker has just announced it will build a very exclusive farewell run of unique 2012 Audi R8 Coupe variants that will only be sold in America. Only 20 copies of the 2012 Audi R8 V8 Exclusive Selection Edition will be built and just 30 examples of its V10-powered sibling are destined for showrooms here. While no changes have been made to the already potent powertrains or Quattro all-wheel-drive systems in either car, both boast a number of distinctive cosmetic touches.
Highlights of the V8-version Audi R8 Exclusive Selection Edition include a custom Daytona Gray matte paint set off with a black grille surround and exhaust finishers, a carbon fiber front splitter and rear diffuser, R8 GT tail lamps, red brake calipers and unique 19-inch titanium-finish 5-arm/split-spoke wheels. Inside, the R8 V8 Exclusive Selection Edition features an exclusive Crimson Red leather interior with contrast stitching and a thicker-rimmed, leather-wrapped contoured multifunction steering wheel.
The Audi R8 V10 Exclusive Selection Edition sets off its shimmering Ibis White exterior with Brilliant Black highlighting on the sideblades, mirrors, and rear license plate surround. It also gets R8 GT tail lamps but is fitted with bi-color 19-inch e-tron style alloy wheels. Inside, the R8 V10’s cabin also boasts an Ibis White motif and contoured steering wheel but sets it off with Carbon Fiber monoposto trim accents.
Price of entry for the 2012 Audi R8 V8 Exclusive Selection Edition will start at $141,950 when you back its 430-horsepower/4.2-liter with the 6-speed manual transmission or $149,750 on versions with the 6-speed R-tronic automatic. Opt for the ultimate 2012 Audi R8 V10 Exclusive Selection Edition with a 5.2-liter/525-horse engine, and those numbers jump to $165,750 for a 6-speed manual and $173,550 for an R-tronic alternative.
