Revamped 2026 Lexus ES Officially Launches

  • All-new version of midsize luxury sedan is arriving at dealerships.
  • Electric models are first to go on sale, followed by hybrids.
  • Pricing begins at $48,795.

If you’ve been eager to get into the radically redesigned 2026 Lexus ES sedan, your wait is either over or nearly over, depending on which variant you want. The eighth generation of Lexus’ midsize luxury sedan is now on sale, at least for buyers seeking the all-electric version. Drivers desiring the one still fueled with gasoline will have to wait a bit longer.

As we previously reported, Lexus has totally reimagined the ES, giving its long-running handsome-but-modest sedan something akin to a celebrity makeover. The 2026 Lexus ES represents a radical departure from the designs that have come before it over three-plus decades, with a futuristic, athletic aesthetic. And that’s just the outside.

Inside, the 2026 Lexus ES features the latest tech, innovative safety systems, and creature comforts that are impressive even for a luxury car.

Just as noteworthy are the power options. For the first time, the Lexus ES will be offered as a purely electric vehicle (EV) in addition to a gas-electric hybrid. Both powertrains will offer a choice of front- or all-wheel drive.

Electric First, Then Hybrid

On sale now are the electric Lexus ES models — the single-motor/front-wheel-drive (FWD) 350e, and the dual-motor/all-wheel-drive (AWD) 500e.

As we noted earlier this month, the electric versions will actually be the least expensive models. The 2026 Lexus ES 350e Premium will begin at $48,795, including destination charge. Dual-motor 500e models will start at $51,795.

If you want a 2026 Lexus ES hybrid, those models are expected to arrive in June. The base version of that model, the ES 350h Premium, starts at $50,995, including destination fee.

Comfortable Cocoon

The Lexus ES has always been a desirable luxury sedan for those seeking comfort over sportiness, and that will likely hold true for this all-new model. Case in point: One option that’s surprising to see even in this midsize class is power-adjustable rear outboard seats with heat, ventilation, and massage functionality. The passenger-side rear seat even offers an ottoman for further relaxation. Such executive rear seating options are rare even for high-end, full-size luxury cars.

The new 2026 Lexus ES will also feature all of the brand’s up-to-the-minute tech, including a 14-inch touchscreen, the latest Lexus Safety System 4.0+, and a 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system that our ears are eager to test. We’ll share our own experience with it – and, of course, driving it – in the near future.
