Lexus has revealed pricing for its newly redesigned, eighth-generation 2026 ES. Surprisingly, the electric vehicle (EV) version is the most affordable option in the lineup.
The all-new 2026 ES was revealed at the Shanghai auto show in April 2025 with two powertrain options: a hybrid and a fully electric. The hybrid comes standard with front-wheel drive (FWD), but offers the option to upgrade to all-wheel drive (AWD). The electric option offers FWD or AWD across two separate models.
The EV Is… the Cheapest?
Pricing for the hybrid starts at $50,995, and the EV starts at $48,795, both including a $1,295 destination fee. This might seem a bit unusual given that electric vehicles are typically more expensive than their hybrid counterparts.
There might be some clues as to why the EV starts lower, but we’re missing some key pieces of the puzzle. We don’t have full specifications for the hybrid, and we haven’t yet received details on which features come standard on each trim. These factors could provide more insight into why the EV turned out to be the least expensive.
Here’s what we do know at this point. The fully electric FWD ES (ES 350e) produces 220 horsepower, while its counterpart, the hybrid FWD (ES 350h), produces slightly more power at 243 hp. The ES 350e has an estimated range of approximately 300 miles when equipped with 19-inch wheels. We would assume the hybrid’s range would be even higher on a full tank. For reference, the current 2025 Lexus ES 300h hybrid has has an EPA-rated range of up to 581 miles.
The 2026 ES is set to arrive later this year, possibly in spring.
