The Cadillac XT4 is the American luxury brand’s smallest and most affordable SUV. There are some sportier and more luxurious SUVs in this segment, but the XT4 is a good value for drivers who prioritize practicality over performance. This Cadillac benefits from roomy rear seats, a big cargo hold, and a nice list of standard features. Other SUVs on the more affordable side of this segment include the Lincoln Corsair, Lexus NX, and Infiniti QX50.
2023 Cadillac XT4 pricing starts at $25,980 for the XT4 Luxury Sport Utility 4D, which had a starting MSRP of $37,490 when new. The range-topping 2023 XT4 Sport SUV 4D starts at $29,108 today, originally priced from $41,990.

The Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price for any individual used vehicle can vary greatly according to mileage, condition, location, and other factors. The prices here reflect what buyers are currently paying for used 2023 Cadillac XT4 models in typical condition when purchasing from a dealership. These prices are updated weekly.
For better or worse, there aren’t any surprises to be had from the driver’s seat of the XT4. The standard turbocharged engine delivers enough power to get the job done, but nothing more.
The refinement of the XT4 is commensurate with its price tag. It’s more luxurious than mainstream SUVs from non-luxury brands, but more expensive players in this class feel more premium from behind the wheel. The engine in the XT4 is a bit noisy under hard acceleration, and the ride can be jittery over rough roads. The ride improves with the optional Active Sport Suspension system available in the Sport trim, enhancing comfort and agility.
We’ve spent hundreds of hours driving and researching the current collection of compact luxury SUVs, including this Cadillac XT4.
The interior of the Cadillac XT4 is upscale and about what you’d expect for a premium SUV in this price range. Our testers noted some hard plastics here and there, but they’re forgivable, considering the modest price tag of the XT4.
The seating space is plenty roomy in this small SUV. The rear seats have adult-friendly legroom and adequate headroom, but we wish they could recline. The XT4 boasts above-average cargo space for an SUV in this class.
Further adding to the practicality are some convenient interior storage solutions like an especially deep center console, cubbies throughout the cabin, and even a spot for an umbrella in the driver’s door.
Sleek and modern styling is one of the strong suits of the Cadillac XT4. This is one of the more aesthetically interesting vehicles in the Cadillac lineup, with a sharp light signature and a couple of interesting appearance packages like the dark Onyx Package and the more chromed-out Radiant Package.
Spacious interior
The Cadillac XT4 has a roomy interior for an SUV this size. The rear seats are adult-friendly with plenty of legroom, and it has a lot of cargo space for a small SUV.
Sport trim
The top Sport trim of the XT4 adds a stylish appearance package inside and out while keeping the price reasonable. It’s available with an Active Sport Suspension system with continuous damping control, adding extra excitement to the drive.
Cadillac Smart System
The Cadillac Smart System is a suite of driver assistance tech features improving the safety of this SUV. Standard features include automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change alert.
Wireless smartphone connectivity
Every XT4 comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This makes it effortless to connect your smartphone to the screen in your SUV without taking it out of your purse or pocket.
Hands-free power liftgate
The Premium Luxury and Sport trims have a hands-free power liftgate that makes it easy to load and unload the cargo area while your hands are full.
Bose Centerpoint audio system
The optional Bose Centerpoint 13-speaker premium audio system creates a surround sound effect with a rich audio experience in the cabin for the driver and passengers alike.
The sole engine option in the Cadillac XT4 is a turbocharged 4-cylinder. The performance is adequate for the daily drive, but many rivals in this segment offer more power. The fuel economy is pretty good, partially thanks to an Active Fuel Management feature with cylinder deactivation.
This engine is linked to a 9-speed automatic transmission that delivers quick shifts. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, and all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional on the XT4.

Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking
This standard feature is always scanning the conditions ahead for possible hazards. If an accident seems imminent, the driver is warned. If a response does not happen in time, the brakes are applied automatically if necessary.
Safety Alert Seat
Imagine reversing the 2023 XT4 out of a driveway. If there’s another vehicle approaching, the standard Safety Alert Seat sets off a tactile warning to your nether regions. The hazard’s location determines whether the seat’s left or right motor is activated. A hazard coming straight on would trigger both.
Teen Driver
For those occasions when the newer and younger drivers of the family want to broaden their horizons, this standard programmable key allows the owner to set various boundaries, like audio system volume, to encourage responsible driving. It also creates an in-vehicle report card.
