"Super fun, but gas mileage and ins. Sux"

"This has always been my realistic dream car. Finally saved up enough to buy it cash. Loved driving it, super fun and agile. Stiff ride, but makes sense considering it's a como. M2. Wife didn't like it much - she doesn't understand. Ok, now the drwbacks: I am a lead foot admittedly, but I am getting like 9-13MPG! Ouch. Yes it's auto, and no a manual would no help. Yes I use sport mode semi frequently (hence 9mpg) At 5.40 a gal and 13g tank this starts to burn. Everyone wants to race you. No kidding every idiot in a mazda3 to vette doods are gunning for you at every light. It is very hard to resist this tingly feeling you get from pulling away... Finally, insurance. In calif it is already high, get a bimmer badged with "comp." on it and now your really gonna pay. First Spd ticket.? .. ins. Jumped 3x. Yikes! I loved it, but recently sold it as another ticket would lead to 6x jump. It sucks, but bye bye little blue m2 comp. 😞"

"Hard to beat for the money"

"There are a lot of little annoying things about the 2017 M2. The gauges aren't as cool as the updated ones, the auto rev match is always on with the manual transmission, the steering feel is a bit numb, the interior isn't particularly fancy. But with all these faults the M2 is a snarly little warthog of a car with all kinds of personality. It's fast, has one of the best sounding turbo I6 engines, and always put a smile on my face. And its relatively small size and light weight made it a blast on tight twisty roads. If you push it too hard it would get loose every once in a while but never to the point where it felt like it would let you crash. There aren't many cars like this any more but the M2 really delivers on its small, fun European sports car roots and for a lot less than its M3 and M4 counterparts."

"I got my BMW M2 brand new with some mods installed by the dealer since the day one! This review is gonna reflect what a new buyer experienced. Let's start with issues which you all want to hear about. I had really bad luck with the idrive system and that crashed completely and end up with a full replacement. Then the ambient temperature sensor went crazy and so AC stopped working properly. Then after 3 repairs then they end up replacing the computer box once again. Then both of my tail lights got water leak and then both got replaced! What a little electronic and quality issue nightmares. But to be honest it was a simple fix and replacement but the dealership took forever to figure those out. Then let's talk about handling and driving. I had many many cars in my history of driving as I had a company which allows me to rent car monthly! So I got free car to try basically nonstop. Like M3, Z4, Miata, Mustang, Corvette, Camero SS, Hellcat etc... So I had tried the full capability of this car in a track, and as a normal driver I will say this is a sweet spot of very high performance handling car with livable daily. Brakes are ok. (I had a M4 with ceramic brakes before M2, but M4 brakes are hard to live with daily as it is completely overkills). So with M4 that I felt I always living in the edge to M2, it feels like a completely different car with much more smaller easier to control car. Fun enough M2 is nowhere lightweight but definitely got its own character to it. Sound wise it is just addictive. My M4 was like super loud however and wakes up the entire neighbour! But M2 just got the right sound to keep it going without those farting bangs. Car reviewers gave very high score to this car. However, I actually agree to many of them! Not just an ads afterall."
