For those who need gargantuan capabilities, the 2024 Ford F-250 is also available in FX4 spec on SuperCab and Crew Cab models in XL and higher trims when equipped with 4WD. Trucks
The GMC AT4 package offers a step up in off-road ability without going to extremes. The AT4 treatment varies somewhat between SUVs and pickups but focuses on enhancing traction, durability, and off-road style.
The midsize 2024 Canyon pickup’s AT4 treatment includes 4WD, an automatic locking rear differential, a 2-speed Autotrac transfer case, a drive mode selector with off-road settings, advanced hill descent control, underbody protection, and more.
To get the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4, you have to choose the crew cab body style, and then the AT4 trim with your choice of a 3.0-liter turbodiesel or, for a $1,995 upcharge, a 6.2-liter gasoline V8. A 2-inch factory lift with off-road suspension and Rancho monotube shocks, underbody skid plates, a 2-speed Autotrac transfer case, an automatic locking rear differential, and a range of interior feature upgrades are also part of the Sierra 1500 AT4 package.
Stepping up to the 2024 GMC Sierra HD range, the AT4 Crew Cab trim includes a diesel engine, an off-road suspension with twin-tube Rancho shocks, and underbody skid plates. Interior feature upgrades include perforated leather seating surfaces. BFGoodrich off-road tires on 20-inch gloss black wheels complete the look.
SUVs
The smallest member of the AT4 family, the 2024 GMC Terrain AT4 is nonetheless an upgraded off-roader. It has AWD, a traction select system with off-road mode, a front steel skid plate, and a range of off-road style upgrades, including a unique grille and AT4 badging.
The 2024 GMC Acadia AT4 adds active torque control AWD, an off-road-tuned suspension, front and underbody skid plates, increased ride height, and exclusive exterior and interior details. It also has a traction select system with off-road modes, hill descent control, red recovery hooks, and a range of off-road-themed appearance tweaks.
The full-size 2024 GMC Yukon and the even larger Yukon XL are eligible for the AT4 trim. The 2024 Honda Passport TrailSport is the midrange trim in the Passport lineup and gets 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, an off-road-tuned suspension, AWD, a traction management system with snow/sand/mud modes, a power tailgate, and leather-trimmed seats with orange stitching.

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid is the only path to get the Trailhawk trim in the luxurious midsize SUV. It’s not available on the conventional Grand Cherokee. It comes with 35-inch tires on 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a unique front bumper and grille design, wheel flares, a 540-hp 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, 11.8 inches of ground clearance, 13 inches of front wheel travel and 14 inches in the rear, Bilstein shocks, an electronic locking rear axle, and nine different drive modes for sand, snow, rocks, Baja, and more, as well as a launch control mode.

2024 Ram 1500 TRX

Ruling the Ram 1500 roost is the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX. It won’t be updated to 2025 spec as it’s going out of production after this model year. The TRX packs 702 hp from a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, 35-inch tires, beadlock-capable wheels, Bilstein Black Hawk shocks, and the same ground clearance and wheel travel specs as the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO, as well as eight drive modes, Selec-Speed control, and even performance-focused pages in the head unit.

2024 Ram 2500 Power Wagon
Starting Price: $70,220
The 2024 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is even larger and more capable (in towing and hauling terms). It’s a serious off-roader that can also tow 10,490 pounds. The Power Wagon gets electronic locking front and rear differentials, an electronically disconnectable front anti-roll bar, 33-inch all-terrain tires, Bilstein suspension, and an available 12,000-pound Warn winch. Powering the Power Wagon is a 410-hp 6.4-liter Hemi V8.

2024 Toyota TRD Pro (4Runner, Sequoia, Tacoma, Tundra)

At the apex of Toyota’s extensive TRD range, the TRD Pro family of vehicles represents the brand’s most focused off-road vehicles.
The 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro builds on the 4Runner’s innate off-roading strengths. It comes with an aluminum front skid plate, TRD Fox high-performance shocks and off-road-tuned springs, crawl control, an electronic locking rear differential, and a TRD roof rack.
The 2024 Sequoia TRD Pro gets a similar treatment, with Fox internal bypass coilovers and rear remote-reservoir shocks, a TRD Pro front stabilizer bar, and 18-inch BBS forged aluminum wheels. A TRD Pro dual-tip exhaust, leather interior trim, and badging inside and out complete the look.
The 2024 Tacoma’s upgrade to TRD Pro levels includes forged aluminum upper control arms, Rigid Industries LED fog lights, 18-inch black TRD Pro wheels, and the i-FORCE MAX 2.4-liter turbocharged hybrid powertrain, which is rated for 326 hp and a gutsy 465 lb-ft of torque.
For a full-size truck that’s also capable off-road, the 2024 Tundra TRD Pro is a sensible option. It’s equipped with Fox shocks and a TRD Pro off-road-tuned suspension, a 1.1-inch front-end lift, an electronic locking rear differential, Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Select with crawl control, and the 437-hp i-FORCE MAX turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain.
