If you’re looking for a 3-row SUV that has more capability than a midsize SUV, consider the full-size 2021 Nissan Armada. Not only can it seat up to eight, but its 400-horsepower V8 assures that the Armada can tow up to 8,500 pounds. This SUV successfully blends tough-truck capability with plush interior comfort. The combination of a relatively low base price and low anticipated maintenance costs puts the Armada in an even more impressive light. This Nissan earns the best 5-Year Cost to Own numbers for any full-size SUV for 2021.

Not only is the Armada highly capable, but when it comes to getting luxury features at a mainstream price, the Armada is a surprising bargain. It’s based on the same foundation as the Infiniti QX80, with the same powerful engine and many of the same amenities. But the Armada’s starting price is $50,095 (including $1,395 destination), which is thousands less than the QX80.

It Works Hard While You Relax

For that value price, you get an impressive amount of SUV for the money. And it’s comfortable, too. As we said in our Expert Review of this Nissan, “The 2021 Armada is roomy and quiet, at least in the first two seating rows. The subdued-yet-thrilling rumble of the muscular V8 adds to the eager anticipation of road trips.” It continues, “The front seats are well cushioned and pleasantly supportive, making long stints behind the wheel bearable. And overall comfort is improved by the availability of heated and cooled quilted leather seats on Platinum models, as well as a heated steering wheel.”

The interior, which has been updated for 2021, has been simplified. It now includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wired Android Auto connectivity.

When it comes to the ability to do hard work, the 2021 Nissan Armada impresses. From our Review: “The Armada’s body-on-frame construction is old-school but effective. It contributes to a skill set that includes some real off-road talent in 4-wheel-drive form. It also gives this SUV the capacity to tow a substantial 8,500 pounds whether you select a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or 4-wheel-drive (4WD) Armada. A standard trailer brake controller is new this year. So is trailer sway control technology that works with the stability control system to help keep towed loads tracking straight.”

The 2021 Nissan Armada offers luxury and capability at a value price. Its low projected 5-Year Cost to Own numbers make it an even better value.
