Best 3-Row Midsize SUV Resale Value: 2020 Toyota Highlander

Predicted Resale Value after 5 Years of Ownership: 45.0%

The Toyota Highlander is all-new for 2020, marking its fourth generation. The latest Highlander is slightly larger, roomier inside, more technologically advanced and even safer. Yet it does have one thing in common with past models: Best-in-class resale value.

The Highlander has long been one of the best 3-row SUVs for busy families and active individuals, with the ability to seat seven or eight passengers. For 2020, room has increased even in the last row, making it suitable for a couple more months of maturity from growing kids.

Up front, the Highlander now offers features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen, premium padded dash and interior stitching, and wireless phone charging. Standard tech such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon’s Alexa In-Car compatibility, plus Wi-Fi and Waze support will keep both driver and passengers connected and entertained. As one of the most popular family vehicles, the Highlander has also upped its impressive safety credentials. All models include Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, which includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, full-speed radar cruise control, and new features like lane tracing and road-sign recognition

The 2020 Toyota Highlander again comes standard with a smooth and potent 295-horsepower V6 engine that can tow up to 5,000 pounds. The new hybrid model now pairs a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and battery electric powertrain is also available, and it’s good for up to 36 mpg. Both models can be had with front-wheel drive (a first for the hybrid) or all-wheel drive, including a more sophisticated version of the V6 model that has a torque-vectoring system. No matter which you choose, you can count on the Highlander’s reputation for reliability, practicality and excellent resale value.
