Best Off-Road SUV Resale Value: 2020 Jeep Wrangler 4-Door

Predicted Resale Value After 5 Years of Ownership: 57.6%

The Jeep Wrangler 4-Door provides the legendary off-road capability of the 2-door Wrangler, but adds the convenience of extra room in the back for people and gear. As we explain in our Expert Review of the Wrangler, “Without question, the 2020 Jeep Wrangler is the most capable, most comfortable and most diverse iteration ever to wear the iconic Wrangler label. As an off-road, rock-crawling champ, the Wrangler knows no equal. But, unlike Wranglers and CJs of the past, the 2020 Wrangler is equally competent on the paved road, offering an SUV-like ride, better feedback from the steering and brakes and more luxury and tech features inside the cabin.” The longer, roomier Wrangler 4-door (previously called the Unlimited) has class-leading resale value in the off-road SUV category, and the 2-door also made it to the podium for 2020.

These improvements don’t take anything away from the Wrangler 4-Door’s ability on a trail. More from our Review: “Our experience driving the Jeep Wrangler was in the wilds of New Zealand, where rocks and boulders, rushing water, and rutted and muddy fields put the new Wrangler to the test. At least in theory — the reality is that none of the varied terrain proved much of a challenge to the Jeep. The Tru-Lok front and rear locking differentials helped make short work of the slick stuff, and both the V6 and turbocharged 4-cylinder provided plenty of torque and power whenever we asked for it.” For those who want to venture further off the road, the Rubicon model comes with anti-roll bars that can be electronically disconnected.

The most pleasant surprise about the Wrangler may be how nicely outfitted it is for on-road drives. Seats are comfortable, there’s plenty of modern tech inside, and there’s even a large touch-screen infotainment system. You can even get heated seats and advanced safety features. Yet the Wrangler 4-Door is loyal to its Jeep heritage, with removable doors, a folding windshield and a choice of soft- or hardtop roof.

The Wrangler 4-Door’s abilities have earned it a loyal fan base, enabling it to hold its value exceptionally well, as it has done for the last several years.
