Best Entry-Level Luxury Car Resale Value: 2020 Lexus ES

Predicted Resale Value After 5 Years of Ownership: 37.9%

BRVA-best-resale-value-awards-logo-240Our Best Resale Value Award bridesmaid in 2019, the Lexus ES sedan moves into the top spot for 2020 with no major changes. All-new last year, this entry-level Lexus luxury 4-door has now enjoyed a full four seasons of U.S. sales and has proved its worth, both as a desirable ride for Beverly Hills and as an affordable, reliable alternative to the steadfast tide of German cars like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the BMW 3 Series.

Starting under $40,000 and available with a 302-horsepower V6 or as a hybrid capable of up to 44 miles per gallon, the 2020 Lexus ES teaches a master class in balancing high-value comfort and sport in an affordable luxury car. Even at the “base” level, the ES aims to please with standard features like power-adjustable simulated-leather front seats, a power moonroof, a 10-speaker audio system, and plenty of room to stretch out — even in the second row.

In addition to pleasure and performance, safety considerations are also covered with Lexus Safety System+ coming on every ES. That safety suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision mitigation with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high beams.

Combining all that with the classic Lexus standards of quality, reliability and resale value, it comes as no surprise to find it also garnered KBB’s Luxury Car Best Buy of 2020 award. Our full review of the 2020 Lexus ES sums its benefits up nicely, saying “The primary objective of a luxury sedan is to afford passengers a roomy, comfortable, quiet, and luxurious cabin and ride. The Lexus ES achieves each of those goals, almost effortlessly.”
