Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards 2025

We all know the saying “go big or go home” and the rewards that mantra can reap when executed well. For its full revamp for 2025, the Toyota Camry went big. The only things it’s going home with are admiration and awards, specifically the respect of our expert test drivers, the Best Buy Award crown for midsize cars, plus our Best New Model trophy. Not bad for a model that has never won a Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award despite its household name and sterling reputation. All it took was going big and breaking boundaries.

Yes, for the first time in the decade that our Best Buy Awards have existed, the Camry beat out the Honda Accord — and all other rivals in its segment — to be our pick for Best Midsize Car. And it topped every rival regardless of segment to be our Best New Model.

Committed to Its Cause

So, how exactly did the Camry go big? You can say it zigged where others zagged and simply committed to its purpose. Toyota risked jettisoning some long-standing Camry traditions in the name of innovation and efficiency. That all starts with a new heart.

2025 Toyota Camry

Where for years and even decades past the Camry has offered a choice of three powertrains — 4-cylinder or V6 gas engines or a gas-electric hybrid — all 2025 Camry models use a hybrid powertrain. And it’s so good that you won’t miss any past powerplants (yes, even the V6). While rivals also offer hybrid powertrains that are optional and more expensive, the Camry brings it standard. You only get one powertrain offering here, and it’s excellent, boasting impressive power and even more impressive fuel economy — to the tune of up to 51 mpg combined.

One noteworthy option you do get — and that notably its archrival doesn’t offer — is all-wheel drive (AWD), a smart asset if you regularly contend with cold conditions and slick roads.

Excellent All-Arounder

We found the Camry an absolute pleasure to command. Whether it’s a quick jaunt to the grocery store or an hours- or days-long trek across the state or states, the all-new Camry is remarkably easy to live with. Like your favorite pair of jeans, it’s just a car you can slip into and go. No fuss, no fatigue, no drama. It’s always ready and willing to serve and please.

The 2025 Toyota Camry is about much more than an excellent new powertrain and commendable driving manners. For its ninth-generation rebirth, the Camry is also at the top of its game in terms of technology and safety, bringing the latest of what Toyota has to offer.

For example, with its Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, the Camry not only gets active safety and driver assist features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking but also Toyota’s Proactive Driving Assist. The system works so subtly yet so well that you might think the Camry is reading your mind as it gently brakes when necessary or maintains a safe distance from other vehicles.

Packed With Features

Toyota also did a mic drop when it comes to other included tech and safety systems, such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, blind-spot monitoring, and an intuitive infotainment system. Lower trims include an 8-inch touchscreen, while the higher trims come with a large and impressive 12.3-inch unit. Gussied up further, the Camry might make you think you’re in a Lexus with options like a leather interior, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, JBL premium audio, massive panoramic moonroof, 360-degree camera system, head-up display, and driver monitor camera. And that’s just touching the surface.

Terrific Value

Many things surprised us about the Camry, but one of the biggest factors that weighed into its win is value. The Toyota Camry starts under $30,000. And remember, it comes standard with a hybrid powertrain that achieves up to 51 mpg combined. That price undercuts a hybrid Honda Accord by several thousand dollars.

And the value doesn’t stop there. In addition to all the money you’ll save on fuel costs, the Camry also comes with Toyota’s vaunted reputation for excellent reliability and resale value. It all adds up to make the new Toyota Camry not just the Best Midsize Car but the Best New Model of 2025.
