Best Heavy Duty Pickup Truck Resale Value: 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD

Predicted Resale Value After 5 Years of Ownership: 60.1%

Chevrolet’s hard-core haulers, the Silverado 2500HD (3/4-ton) and 3500HD (1-ton) pickups, are designed for serious work. The Chevrolet Silverado HD, all-new for 2020, is now even more capable. These trucks are built for work, but they are also made for heavy-duty weekend towing and hauling. These Chevrolet trucks, already known for their durability, also boast the top projected resale value of any heavy-duty truck for 2020.

Maybe your work or recreational needs demand heavy-duty towing. As we explain in our Expert Review of the Silverado HD, “Towing ability is one of the Silverado HD’s bragging points. Its 35,500-pound max tow rating beats its Ford Super Duty and Ram Heavy Duty rivals, at least for now. The 2020 Silverado HD offers a choice of gasoline or diesel V8 engines, trims that range from basic work truck to amenity-laden hauler, and some of the best towing technology available. Dual-rear wheels are available on 3500 models for the biggest jobs.” Perhaps your needs are more for high payload capacity. Here, the Silverado HD also excels. It can carry more than 7,400 pounds of payload.

The Silverado HD comes with a choice of 6.6-liter V8 engines: a 401-horsepower gas V8 or an excellent optional 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel. The diesel boasts 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. It’s refined and efficient and is backed by a new Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. Being relied upon for a wide range of needs, Chevrolet had to make sure there would be an HD configuration for just about everyone. That’s why there are multiple wheelbase lengths, single or dual wheels, and available 4-wheel drive.

While these trucks are workhorses, Chevrolet made sure they would be comfortable for everyone on board. The interior includes a wide array of tech, and optional features include heated and ventilated seats and leather upholstery. The Silverado HD’s ride is comfortable, and the crew cab layout is plenty spacious for up to six people.
