Hybrid Alternative Energy Car

Pininfarina H600 Concept Bows with 800 Horsepower

Crafted by Pininfarina for the Hong Kong-based Hybrid Kinetic Group, the H600 Concept was unveiled in Geneva. Developed as part of a $68 million cooperative effort to create a family of premium vehicles that would feature HK’s drivetrain technology, this elegantly styled sport sedan matches luxury features with a sophisticated hybrid powertrain. The centerpiece of that system is an HK micro-turbine engine providing that can charges the car’s HK-sourced battery pack or pass it on directly to the H600’s powerful electric motors that develop roughly 800 horsepower.

The exterior of the H600 blends dynamic proportions with fluid contours that give the car a classic Pininfarina presence. A large panoramic glass panel dominate the roof and will be a signature cue of all of the vehicles in this series. The absence of a B-pillar and coach-style rear doors ease access the H600’s plush 4-seat cabin. Covered in rich leather, accented with fine wood veneers and featuring distinctive ambient lighting, it has a lounge-like character. A large digital display panel spans the entire dash and works in concert with the vertical touchscreen that dominates the H600’s upper center console to provide a versatile yet highly user-friendly primary interface. Rear seat passengers can enjoy variety of infotainment options thanks individual display screens mounted on the back of each front seatback.

While neither Pininfarina nor HK provided many specific details about the H600’s powertrain – including how many motors it has or the capacity of its battery pack – we do know this chic 4-door has all-wheel drive with active torque vectoring. The H600 reportedly will sprint from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds on its way to a 155 mph top speed and can travel over 621 miles before needing to refuel its micro-turbine range extender.
