"This vehicle is by far the best truck that Toyota ever made. They were very expensive and because of the original pricing and the poor marketing of Toyota trying to sell this as a competitor in the full size market it got very poor ratings from the industry. What the industry did not mention is the fact these trucks are very well made, and literally bullet proof. They were the last of the original IFS torsion bar suspension design, proven in the smaller mini trucks, came with a FULL box frame and are just simple yet very functional. They are just shy of the size of a full size truck yet are extremely roomy. The interior is comfortable and functional without the modern day doo dads or dash that looks more like a busy box. They simply cannot be beat IMHO. This is an ex-Toyota mechanic talking here and I am very choosy as to what I will drive, and since the T100 hit the market with the 4X4 XCab I've wanted one. Now I have one and want more. Funny, the experts all harped on these trucks, yet talk to anyone that owns one and they will not part with it. Matter of fact, if you do find one for sale, notice how long it lasts before it's bought. You can keep the Tacoma or Tundra, both are a huge compromise, I'll keep my T100. 184K and still going."
"I bought my 1995 T-100 4WD used from a local Dr. some years ago (he has since tried to buy it back) and have had absolutely no problems with it what so ever. I am a master plumber and use the truck for everything under the sun and it handles it all very well. The ONLY small knock I can think of is that I wish it had a little more horsepower when pulling a trailer. Other than that, as others have mentioned, the seat belt retractor is weak but that is only a small annoyance.
125000 miles on the truck and everything still works as well as it did when it left the factory. I have never previously owned a vehicle I could say that about."
