Pros: "zips around, reliable, never ever broke down"

Cons: "the interior of this older model didn't last."

"I've had my 2001 Corolla since December 2000. It's 15 1/2 yrs. old, 230,000 miles! The car speaks for itself; I don't have to tell my friends to buy a Toyota; my car is proof."

Pros: "reliable"

Cons: "CHEAP plastic doors on storeage compartments."

"The most reliable car I have ever owned. 185,000 miles on the odometer and I still drive it 550 miles once in awhile to North Carolina. No serious issues other than the A/C that quit recently and cheap interior storage compartments. Like most cars known for longevity, it needs to have the oil changed every 5,000 miles. I live in the Pocono Mountains in PA. It is quite good in snowy weather as long as it has snow tires."

Pros: "economical, reliable fun to drive"

Cons: "Wish it was more roomy for driver."

"My daughter bought this car new in 2000. I bought it from her in 2003 when it had 35,000 miles. Now it has 175.000 miles. It has been very reliable except for usual replacement items such as brakes, battery, muffler, etc. It is fun to drive and it just keeps on going."

"I first bought this car with 133,000 miles on it, thinking that because it's a toyota it would last me a long time. About a week after purchasing it, I had a light on the dash turn on indicating low oil. I didn't think that was possible because I had made sure it was full when I purchased it. Sure enough when I checked it though, it was practically empty. I started to pay more attention and noticed clouds of smoke coming out of the exhaust every time I accelerated from a stop. I usually have to put in a quart of oil when my gas tank is not even half empty. Whatever money this car saves on gas you spend in oil. You might as well get a big truck."

Pros: "Fun to drive, easy to maneuver, easy to park"

Cons: "Car handles seem to break easily"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"I bought my 1999 Corolla when it was 4 years old ... I had NO problems with it for years...unlike my previous Honda which nickel-and-dimed me to death. I agree with other reviewers about the inside car handles though-both the drivers and passengers sides have broken in my car... Lately, last year and this year unfortunately, the check engine light has come on a lot... I am going to have it checked again, but it may be time to start looking for new one. I have loved this car. Love how easy it is to handle in traffic, how I can fit in these small parking spaces,it's pretty good on gas, could be better, but not bad. Would and will buy again, if I can find a similar treasure.."

"Bought this car from my sister at 118,000 miles or so back in 2007...she was the original owner. She had only ever done very basic minimal maintenance on the car (Firestone)and the only thing I have done over the last 9 years and 200k other than original maintenance is - back struts - one wheal bearing - replaced power steering hose (did it myself in 45 min.) -door handles x8 (all 4 inside and 4 outside...did all myself) all adding up to about $1500 over 9 years and 200k! The only reason I cant give all 10's is the little nonessentials do begin to breakdown overtime...but thats a small price to pay for a car that I will use for 20+ years!"
