2008 Mercury Sable

The 2008 Mercury Sable boats a number of improvements, among the most notable are a more powerful engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, a retuned suspension and a minor facelift. All-wheel drive is available on the standard trim level and Mercury's SYNC in-car communications system takes the cake for new available features.

About Mercury Sable

Sometimes, the past is worth repeating. Last year's revival of the Sable nameplate (formerly known as the Montego) has helped boost Mercury sales among long-time loyalists more familiar with the old name. As before, this latest iteration is essentially the mechanical twin of the Ford Taurus, sharing a platform and some styling cues while still remaining the up-market model of the two. A roomy and safe full-size sedan, the Sable competes in a class that includes the Buick LaCrosse, Toyota Avalon and Chrysler 300, and with its fresh look and low entry-level price tag, the Sable is better than it's been and worth a look for those seeking a sedan that can comfortably hold a family of five.

"Excellent overall vehicle, loads of room for travel, infact, replaced a mnivan with this vehicle and had room for everyting previously carried in the van when traveling to AZ for winter. Performance with the 3.5 engine is outstanding and gas mileage is averaging qbout 26 when traveling at highway speeds (70). Huge trunk and great sight lines for driver. Sync system is a big plus."

"This is my first Mercury and one of the best cars ever owned. It feels like you have a real car around you, and plenty of head room. Avg. 22 mpg city 25 mpg over the road. I started driving 1968 and have spent over 28 years in sales with a car as my office. This could be the last car I ever buy."

"I bought a black 2008 Mercury Sable from a dealership about a month ago and I'm ecstatic with the purchase. The crash test ratings were especially important to me because the reason I needed a new car was due to a collision. This car is sturdy, I call it my "Stable Sable." I'd say it's worth the little extra money put toward MPG compared to say, the Fusion or Focus. Not the garden variety, the Sable is less common and makes more of a statement compared to those cars. Also, the Sable is made in America as opposed to Mexico. This car retains it's value, I could trade in my Sable today and receive only 3-400 hundred dollars less than what I initially paid. More room than I know what to do with, I could live in it. Switches effortlessly and comfortably to accomodate my 6'2" foot fiance and 5'4" me. Great factory stereo. The only 'problem' I have is keeping the exterior clean, everything shows up on black. The only reason I give it 4 stars in reliability is because I haven't had it long. Confident in driving it in MN snow this winter. Have gotten numerous compliments....I could go on and on :)"
