The 2015 Land Rover LR2 luxury SUV adds two new décor packages: the Black Pack and Silver Pack. Both feature 19-inch wheels, HDD navigation and special interior and exterior accents. The 825-watt Meridian audio system is offered this year with SiriusXM at a special value price.
The 2014 Land Rover LR2 gets a handful of tweaks after last year's upgrade. The SUV's infotainment system gets a more responsive touch screen, and the SiriusXM satellite radio features better search and other usability improvements. The 825-watt Meridian sound system is available on base and HSE models as a stand-alone option.
Land Rover has applied numerous changes to its gateway model for the 2013 model year. Key alterations include a new turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, improved interior electronics, a slight cosmetic face-lift and a new dash layout.
Land Rover LR2 soldiers on in 2012 with updates it received a year prior that include a new front end that shares its appearance with the
Land Rover LR4. Inside, the LR2 has been updated with new seat styles and a redesigned instrument cluster. The
SUV is available in three trim levels: LR2, HSE and HSE Lux.
For 2011, Land Rover gives the LR2 a slight interior and exterior freshening, adding a new bumper and two-bar grille, larger side mirror glass, a new instrument cluster and some new colors and fabrics.
While a nominal replacement for the Freelander, Land Rover's all-new LR2 represents a huge leap, in quality, performance and luxury, that makes it a far more compelling total-value statement in a segment that's becoming increasingly more crowded.
About Land Rover LR2
As the Land Rover line evolves into sleeker, more stylish designs, the LR2
SUV for 2015 retains a look preferred by many off-road traditionalists. Although the LR2 is Land Rover’s least expensive model, it is still a very capable one; it’s also a bit more practical than the low-slung Evoque and Discovery Sport. Its interior is plush, but somewhat snug and the LR2’s fuel economy is less than eye-popping. Then again, Land Rover’s LR2 luxury SUV can truly be taken off-road, a feat many competitors allude to in their brochures but few can actually deliver. For those who spend more time on road than off, however, luxury rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLK,
Audi Q5 and
Cadillac SRX make much more comfortable and spacious alternatives.
"I have had this vehicle for 2 months and it is by far the safest car I have ever owned. Last week an RV hit us from the side with my family in the car and there were only minor damages done do the car and my family did not have a single bump or scratch on them, or whiplash. Also, the interior is very comfortable. The LR2 is a great car for all ages."
"My 2008 LR2 left me stranded for 3 days on a business trip last week. The dealer still doesn't know what is wrong with it. The vehicle is 3 hours hours away from my house. It won't start. The alternator shorted out. This is caused because of a design flaw. The coolant tube from the reservior to the engine block cracked at the block. The flaw is that it is positioned on top of the alternator, thus when fitting fails and leaks the coolant drips into the alternator. The closet alternator was in Texas- had it shipped overnite = cost $1oo.oo. Replaced battery- now they can't get the vehicle to start. Parts availability are horrible. Every time something breaks, it can be several days to several weeks of waiting. I am dumping my LR2 as soon as it gets out of the dealers shop. I drive too many miles to worry about being stranded again."
"I was skeptial about Land Rover after noting poor reviews in Consumer Reports. After much research and talking to owners I decided to take a chance on the LR2. This vehicle is the perfect size for my needs. After 50,000 trouble free miles I have virtually nothing to complain about. Operationally, the vehicle reflects a previously owned BMW X-5 quite nicely. I easily get 19-20 mpg around town with limited free way driving. Several long range trips (2000+ miles) usually nets 24-26 mpg.
I would change only two things: 1) this vehicle needs Homelink 2) it also needs fob in the pocket/purse operation like my wife's Infiniti FX"
