A new SXT trim joins the line, while 2500 and 3500 models receive a standard 7x10-inch trailer-tow mirror. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 3500 4x4 models with the 6.7-liter diesel engine and six-speed automatic transmission climbs from 23,000 to 24,000 pounds.
How big is too big? At Dodge, the question seems not to have crossed anyone's mind. How else can one explain the massive Dodge Mega Cab pickup? As if the Ram Quad Cab isn't more truck than most folks need, the Mega Cab stretches its interior by replacing the standard eight-foot box with a six-foot bed and filling the gap with an additional 20 inches of cab. The Mega Cab now boasts the largest interior of any full-size pickup and features so much rear-seat legroom it's only a matter of time before someone starts using it as an off-road limo! The true beauty of the Mega Cab's design is that its stem-to-stern dimensions remain identical to the eight-foot bed Ram Quad Cab pickup, meaning it will still fit in your garagebut just barely.

"2002 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4. Owned this truck for over a year, taken it offroading several times and have always been impressed with its offroad capabilities. My truck does have the larger engine size, the 5.9L V8 and it never seems like it's working hard. Cab is extremely roomy and very comfortable, my friends say its like riding on a couch. Also very well designed interior, lots of space and hidden pockets and compartments - they've definitely come in handy! Can fit six adults with seatbelts on fairly comfortably, as long as whoever sits in the back in the middle doesn't have too long of legs. Had to replace a U joint shortly after purchasing, it had been cracked and was rusting but that was caused by previous owner. Cracked radiator at some point, had to be replaced. Serpentine belt fried and had to be replaced. Stock battery lasted about 7 years, but had trouble with the new battery. Didn't fit in its place exactly right, cracked and kept losing water out of the cells, although that's not the truck's fault. Has some electrical bugs with the window switches, passenger automatic window control doesn't work but driver side does. If the truck is maintained correctly and you keep an eye on what needs to be replaced at the milestones, this is a great truck. Gas mileage is poor, but for the size of the truck and engine it's to be expected. About 11mpg city, 15 hwy."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 98,000
overall rating 5 of 5rating detailsLikely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I have had other Pickup trucks in the past, but this vehicle has been more durable and reliable than the others in the past. I really would prefer the Dodge Co. to check out the rotors and brakes as they really have to be worse than the other brands. My son is a Mechanic and he has worked on alot of pickups and he has stated that these has been the worse of outwearing than others.I do enjoy my Dodge 1500 Thunderroad Hemi pickup."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 65,000
overall rating 5 of 5rating detailsPros: "Lots of power and very very dependable"
Cons: "rear susps nds upgrades for hauling/towing heavier"

"One suggestion is upgrading the rear suspension with adjustable air bags if you plan on using this truck to haul or tow. It bottomed out on the bump stops when I rented a brand name trailer with my tool chests in the bed of the truck and the car on the trailer. This was in part the rental trailer puts most of the weight on the tongue of the trailer and not ballanced over the axles. But, after air bags she towed like a dream and rode off the stops. The hemi is an awsome engine and with the MDS runs better mpg than the 4.7. Also with the front lower than the rear, as is the situation on just about any stock truck anymore for fuel mileage, a leveling kit is highly recommended if you plan on putting a snow plow on the truck as the plow frame had minimal ground clearance. This does not effect the ride quality in the least. This truck is very easy to work on in every aspect. The thought that went into the design and production of the engine compartment and accessibility of the major components is to be commended. The only work done on this truck was routine tires, oil, filters and performance upgrades. Lifetime powertrain warranty will keep this truck in my inventory for a long time. All of the mods I've done were due to the fact I couldn't afford a 2500."
