Sometimes good isn't good enough.

Even though it's the second-oldest car in the segment — trailing only the Chrysler 200 with which it shares a platform — the 2013 Dodge Avenger isn't completely outmoded. Dating back to the 2008 model year, the Avenger was updated for 2011 with higher-quality interior materials among a handful of much-needed improvements.

But it's competing head to head with an increasing number of truly great midsize sedans, most offering better fuel economy, more technology, superior resale values and greater refinement.

Chrysler has confirmed an all-new 200 will arrive early in 2014, and we expect to see a new Avenger — or an Avenger replacement — around the same time.

Driving It

The 2013 Dodge Avenger is not without its charms. From our full review: "The 2013 Dodge Avenger can be a surprisingly fun car to drive. The reworking it received in 2011 to the suspension, brakes and steering gear help make this 5-passenger sedan feel more like a nimble European car than any mid-size Dodge from the past decade."

Build and Price...

If you want to buy a 2013 Dodge Avenger, make sure to get an above-average deal to help compensate for its below-average resale values. Build a 2013 Dodge Avenger to your liking and we'll give you its Fair Purchase Price, which reflects pre-incentive transaction prices updated weekly and adjusted for your area.

...or Keep Looking

If you don't hear a siren song calling you to the 2013 Dodge Avenger you'll be happy to know you have 11 other midsize sedans to choose from, including new-for-2013 versions of the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Malibu, as well as the all-new 2014 Mazda6.
