Forty-seven journalists from 24 countries picked both the entries and winners in the fourth annual World Car of the Year Awards. BMW's diesel-powered 118d with Efficient Dynamics engineering won the green award, while Audi's brilliant R8 took top honors in both the design and performance categories (Audi won the same awards last year for the TT and RS4). But it was the fun and efficient Mazda2/Demio -- a Honda Fit competitor that isn't currently sold in the U.S. -- that took first place. The Mazda beat out Mercedes-Benz's new C-Class and Volvo's C30 for top World Car of the Year honors.
