SAE J2807 is a towing standard by which a set of standard tests measure the towing capability of a vehicle. A standard trailer is connected to a vehicle and loaded to the GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) of the vehicle, and then the tests are performed. Tests include handling, braking, acceleration, hill climbing, and trailer sway. Vehicles that meet all test criteria are certified as J2807 compliant, according to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International standards.
