A motor is a mechanical device that turns electrical current into kinetic energy (motion). Electric motors typically create an electromagnetic field when electricity passes through wire windings in the presence of powerful magnets. The interaction of the magnetic fields causes the central rotor of the motor to turn with significant torque, and that motion can be harnessed and used.
