Last-mile describes the final leg of transportation in a distribution system with the delivery of goods from a retailer or distribution center to the consumer. This concept becomes critical in calculating the efficiency of various delivery methods, as the technologies used for long-distance movement of large quantities of goods don’t necessarily scale well to individual product deliveries.
