Often called “rain-sensing wipers,” automatic windshield wipers use infrared sensors to detect moisture on the windshield and then use the sensor input to trigger the appropriate wiper action without driver intervention. How the infrared light is reflected determines the speed and frequency of the the wiper action. The windshield wiper control must be set to “Auto” to activate the wiper blades automatically, otherwise they must be initiated manually.
