Android Auto is an app or skill (in the case of Android Auto version 10 and later) which can integrate your Google Android OS-powered smartphone into your vehicle’s infotainment system, mirroring the phone’s screen on the car’s multimedia display. It allows drivers to control their phone’s navigation, calling and messaging, and entertainment streaming apps using voice commands (via Google Assistant) or the car’s touchscreen to minimize fumbling with a phone while driving. For Android Auto to work, the vehicle’s infotainment system has to have either wired or wireless capability built-in or installed. See also Apple CarPlay.
