Positive Review
I researched and compared: 1) 2018 Audi Q5 Prestige (test drove); 2) 2018 BMW X3 xDrive30i, M Sport design, Executive Tier (test drove); 3) 2018 Volvo XC60 T5 Inscription (test drove); 4) 2018 Mercedes GLC300 Fully loaded. Subjectively, I think no car come close to the high tech, simplistic and elegant interior design of XC60. Quality is top notch: soft-touch material everywhere, comfy/supportive seats with soft leather, heat/ventilation and even massage! (Probably the biggest) panoramic moonroof that extend to slightly behind rear passenger. As an audiophile, the B&W option is a must. None of the other three candidates is in even comparable. I love the exterior design, but this is subjective. Also, I think its established that Volvo is synonymous to safety so I wont waste time talking about this. My wife and I love how the ride is tuned with comfort in mind. I think enthusiast will prefer X3 and Q5. But for us, this is a family car so comfort is THE priority. If a sporty drive is what you are looking for, I do recommend X3 or Macan. After basically went through all youtube reviews and website articles, and personally test drove these SUVs, I narrowed down to a fully loaded Q5 Prestige (~56,400 before fees and tax) and fully loaded XC60 T5 Inscription (59,355 before fees and tax). I dare say you wont make any mistake if you choose either one. As much as I want the bragging right of owning a luxury German car, the modern interior/exterior styling, luxury design/material and safety features of XC60 is just the more rational choice for me and my family. Absolutely no regret =)
Critical Review
Volvo cars have left me disappointed when it comes to reliability. Unfortunately, their service and customer care only add to the frustration and make you question your decision to buy a Volvo. Let me share my personal experience, and you can be the judge. In mid-December, my 10-month-old XC60 Recharge unexpectedly shut down for no apparent reason. After reporting the issue, it took volvo roadside assistance a whopping 12 hours to arrive. Imagine being stuck in the middle of nowhere for that long. When they finally showed up, they attempted various fixes but to no avail. Ultimately, they had to tow my car to the service center where I initially purchased it. To my dismay, the service center neglected my car for the first four days without even offering a loaner vehicle, despite my repeated requests. This was quite disheartening considering they had claimed to be a premium brand when I purchased the car. In reality, their service fell short and felt more like a budget option. After spending over a week in the service center, I was finally asked to pick up my car. However, my happiness quickly turned into disappointment when the dashboard started showing errors within 10 minutes of driving. I had to return the car the very next day for further repairs. As of my latest update on January 31, 2023, my car is still in service for the third time in the past 45 days. In fact, during the last 45 days, I have only had my car with me for a mere 3 days; the rest of the time, it has been at Palo Alto Volvo Service. There are lot many small problems, if i write here, it will become a 50 page book. Another day. If you visit Twitter and search for tweets about Volvocars, you'll find numerous similar experiences shared by others. It's disheartening to see a brand with such potential fall short in terms of reliability and customer support.

Bought used 21/2 years ago with 31K miles. Recently turned 50K miles and the only unexpected expense was a complete brake service due to bad rotors. Also a set of tires was needed. Otherwise this Volvo has been a joy to drive. The overall quality is excellent. I feel safe and secure in it. The navigation system is not user friendly. Volvo changed the navigation operating system a couple years later for this very reason. Gas mileage is very good. Knowing what I know now I would buy it again.
Comfortable and looks nice
Poor Quality. Poor Warranty. Unreliable
I have a T8 Rechargeable with only 45,000 miles. The Check Engine light and "Hybrid System Failure" warning lights came on. I serviced it at Volvo and they said the Hybrid System Coolant Bypass Valve was stuck open and had to be replaced. The repair cost me $1,500 and it was NOT covered by warranty. I called Volvo Customer Care to file a complaint. After waiting online for 40 minutes twice, I finally got through a 3rd time to talk to a human. She opened a claim number and within an hour, I got an email back saying my claim was denied. Volvo's quality is poor and they do not stand behind their product. A significant failure on a component that should not fail should be covered by a warranty.
We had a really great run with this car. The fit and finish of the interior of the beautiful Soundsystem the ergonomic Swedish styled seats and the performance were great. The car was highly reliable and is still in beautiful condition.
Comfort and quality

I've had this SUV for 2 years and have never experienced an issue with it. The comfort and ride is excellent. The fuel mileage is exceptional averaging 30+ mpg.
I think your value of my car is ridiculous. But, that’s why you’re in business.. The vehicle cost $ 56,000.00 brand new and has barely been driven. This tells me that buying a new car is not practical.
Value for quality

My 2nd Volvo and have nothing bad to say about it. It has never given me problems. The car is quiet and the fuel economy is excellent.
From the day after ownership, I tried to get Volvo to repurchase this lemon and was shot down for 3 months. Finally had to trade it for a loss with only 3k miles. Drivers seat moves while car in motion, interior lights don’t work when doors open, backup cameras intermittently error out, apple car play doesn’t work most of the time, the cruise control never gets the car to the desired speed, and many more electrical issues. Volvo made me wait two months while they “reviewed my buyback request” just to deny it. In the meantime the cars value dropped significantly. I will never buy another Volvo and will NEVER recommend anyone else buy one either.
Comfort, size
Electrical system doesn’t work
Literally from driving the new car off the lot it was a lemon. My first day of ownership I literally asked for a different one n they refused. The seat belt alarm went off with no one in passenger seat. Had to leave the belt buckled to shut off alarm. The electrical problems continued on a daily basis. The car was towed once because the gas cap wouldn’t release n I could not make it to a dealership without gas. The whole audio system on the whole car shuts off frequently. The car shifted 3 different times from drive into park at a red light. Connections for apple play inconsistent. Meets lemon law within the first month but dealership and corporate headquarters refused to help me. Discovered dealership run by 4 different corporations. Volvo 1, service dept , 2, leasing , 3, and dealership owner, 4. The car was repeatedly rebooted electronically from a distance. The local Volvo dealer could not fix the computer. This is my 4 th Volvo. Have been a devoted loyal customer and received no apology or correction from anyone within the dealership or corporate headquarters quarters. Plan to trade car n take loss. Do not need the stress to fight this corporation.
