"2020 Atlas Cross Sport SEL 3.6 4 motion"

My wife and I were waiting for this! We traded our '18 Tiguan, which we loved too. But wanted a little more room from a five seat CUV. It's very comfortable and handles very well. When we've owned it longer I will submit another review.

Critical Review

"IS THIS REALLY A VOLKSWAGEN?"

I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL VW CUSTOMER FOR ALMOST 30 YEARS AND MY APOLOGIZES, BUT VEHICLE IS SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. GREW UP WITH VW'S AND MY FIRST WAS THE NEW GOLF, THEN AS LIFE PROGRESSED SO DID MY VOLKSWAGENS, I'VE HAD ALL MODELS. THE TOUAREG WAS INTRODUCED AND I HAD THREE......LAST ONE WAS THE WOLFSBURG ADDITION AND NEVER SHOULD HAVE GIVEN THAT ONE UP FOR THE ATLAS SPORT. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE GERMAN ENGINEERING, NOTHING BECAUSE ONCE YOU SIT IN THE DRIVERS SEAT YOU BECOME ONE WITH VEHICLE. BEING FRANK, THIS FEELS LIKE A TIN CAN AND NOTHING LIKE A GERMAN VEHICLE. THE ATLAS SPORT ACCELERATION IS SLOPPY, FEELS LIKE THE ENGUINE IS SKIPPING GUEARS. UNDERPOWERED, ESPECIALLY COMING FROM MY YEARS OF OWNING THE TOUAREG. I ENJOY THE SAFTY FEATURES, ESPECIALLY LANE ASSIST. THE TECHNOLOGY IS GREAT TO HAVE BUT I'M SURE I WON'T EXPERIENCE ALL. WAS HAPPY TO SEE THE PASSENGER WINDOWS POWER COMPLETEY FLUSH, ACTUALLY MY GOLDEN IS THE HAPPIEST. STYLING, GOOD BUT DOESN'T EVEN HOLD A CANDLE TO THE TOUAREGS. I SEE THE ATLAS MODELS MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE CITY SO IT IS ATTRACTING CUSTOMERS....BUT, IF YOU ARE A LONG TERM, LOYAL VW DRIVER AND HONEST, YOUR CONCLUSION MIGHT BE THAT THIS IS NOT A VOLKSWAGEN. FOR YEARS I HAVE SPOKEN SO HIGHLY OF THE BRAND, RECOMMENDED VW'S, TOUTED THE VOLKSWAGEN BRAND, SAD MY CHEERLEADING DAYS ENDED. DISAPPOINTING.

Stylish, Roomy, Comfortable and Dependable
Pros

Great all round package

Cons

GAs mileage could be better

We have 10.000 miles on our 2024 VW Atlas Cross Sport SEL R line. The car drives incredibly well and is extremely well equipped. Very comfortable and quiet to drive. The 2 row provides lots of room and excellent luggage space. So far, this car has been exceptionally reliable with no issues except for the plastic engine cover replacement under warranty. Gas mileage has averaged 22 in town and up to 27 on the highway. We drove other vehicles and felt that this SUV was our best option - we have been proved right!

2021 Cross Sport Atlas

The look of the vehicle is awesome! It is also a very comfortable vehicle. However, it is not reliable! I have had problems with the breaks, airbags, harness, coolant engine system, electrical radio malfunction(it doesn't work), and it is very noisy. I had new tires put on and now it sounds like the (cv) joints are about to break loose. It has given me nothing but problems. I would never purchase another one.

Love it but …

Love it but the windows are broken and it’s an 2023 only a year old. When I go to roll them up, they go down. Extremely annoying they can’t have working windows on a new car especially for the money you spend. Other than that it’s good.

Sweet rode
Pros

Roomy for large people, with huge cargo area, great performance, good mileage, comfortable ride, very well built, awesome tech

Cons

A little large to park

The ride is awesome, like siting on a luxurious couch as you watch the world flys past your windows, the new technology it almost drives itself, when you shift to sport mode it easy to forget how large this vehicle is, as it handles like a true sports car,

Great SUV with tons of space
Pros

Style, safety features, space and reliability

Cons

Fuel economy could be better

I owned a 2022 Atlas SEL Premium and this is my second Atlas. I love the style, interior space, comfort and reliability. Two Atlas in 5 years and never had one single issue, really impressed with VW quality. Safety features and standard gadgets are incredible and something that you wont find in other cars with the same price range like Toyota, Hyundai or Kia, you feel more like in an Audi or BMW. Something that could be better and I don't like is the fuel economy, around 18 mpg mostly city and jump to 22 mpg when driving highway at 75-80 mph, however this is a big heavy car. Ride quality is good and quiet, V6 engine is reliable and powerful, it feels really fast from standstill when the red light turns to green. I recommend this car to anyone looking for an SUV with style, enough space for a family and great reliability. You will smile after you own an Atlas.

Super SUV
Pros

Great looks and handling.

Cons

None

Runs and handles great. 4 Cylinder Turbo is excellent power when you use premium fuel...eliminates hesitation as well...Only had a software update thus far. While not considered fuel efficient the handling, power and acceleration are excellent and has very spacious interior front and 2nd row. Great looks and great fit and finish too.

Unreliable

Its very unreliable the older volkswagen models are better for reliability and quality. The interior quality is very cheap your better off just getting a used audi.
