Positive Review
I have now owned 7 Priuses. I generally trade them in every 20-40,000 miles. While this latest generation Five is by far the best looking of them all, it does have some drawbacks when compared to the generation Four which I have to say has been my favorite so far. The biggest negatives for me are the drop in MPG, and smaller cargo space for the XLE and Limited models. I bought the XLE and wish I had simply gotten the LE with its better MPG and trunk space, but at the time of purchase I wasn’t aware of the difference in models since this was never really an issue in previous generations. Shame on me for not being more educated. I do a lot of interstate long distance driving and only get decent mpg on this version if I stick to around 60 mph. Once you approach 70 mph or higher, your mpg stops dramatically. I had gotten used to 56 mpg on my previous models, and now am lucky to get 52. Generally, it’s closer to 48/50. As a loyal Prius driver I was always more focused on fuel efficiency, so while the snazzy look is cool, it’s not worth the drop in mpg and cargo space.
Critical Review
No head room, small trunk, no spare tire, cannot adjust the dash lighting during a cloudy day, in the rain. Very difficult to see the dash screen. Headlights cast weird shadows in front of the car on the road at night.

Gas mileage, extremely reliable, sporty/modern design, and great safety features
Having to go car shopping to buy a car
I bought this car at the end of December due to my job location changing. I was hesitant because I live in an area with great public transportation, but now I am so glad I own a car. The Prius is very reliable, great with city driving, and AMAZING gas mileage! The 2024 Prius is very spacious and modern. I love the large display screen, moon roof, and all the sensors (makes parallel parking a breeze)
This car has very small doors. I literally have to crawl into the front seat and do my best to flip around. Then I have to crawl out again. They tried to make the car slightly more fuel efficient but sacrificed comfort.
Fuel economy, performance, reliability
Not designed to be a family car
I test drove a 2025 Prius XLE, Mazda Miata, and Subaru Crosstrek after driving a Toyota 4-Runner for 5 years. I expected good reliability and was taken by surprise with the ride and roominess so I decided to purchase one. I've been driving it for 3 months / 2,000 miles and absolutely love it! It handles like a sports car, taking on curvy backroads just as nicely as the Miata and with better acceleration. I'm 6-ft and find the fit is just right for me. Some reviews talk about an obstructed view of the instrument cluster but I find no problem with it. Limited headroom in the back is to be expected with the sleek design and I find it much better than sports cars of this size. The steering wheel and seat adjustment options take care of that. The hatchback design offers much more room than the Miata and it has 4 doors and a backseat. It has just as much storage as the Subaru, and much better performance and comfort. The build quality feels solid for such a small car and I'm confident I will get many miles of low mpg reliability with this beauty (54 mph without really trying).
Fuel economy, handling, comfort, electronics.
Availability
I purchase a new car every 3-4 years and have driven many different makes and models over the years. This 2025 Toyota Prius XLE is a winner. I love the way it handles and the styling wins many compliments. It's quick, yet I get 54 mph without really trying. The interior is well-designed and spacious for a car of this size. Some reviewrs mention poor visibility with the pillars, rear window and instrument panel but if you think of this as a sports car, which wouldn't be unreasonable to do so, the visibility is in line with other sports cars shaped to slice efficiently through the wind. This vehicle has excellent road manners and drives where you want it, with no body roll and no hesitation with the gas pedal. Many sports cars of this shape and size don't offer 4-doors, back seats, or much of a cargo area. This Prius has all that and more. Admittedly, my intention this time around with a car purchase was to get the peppy 2025 Camry Sport which would offer more room and visibility but there weren't any available when I was ready to trade-in my 4-Runner. There was one Prius XLE on the lot and I decided to go with it. I'd recommend test driving one to see what you think. It may surprise you!
Great car, sleek looking, so many safety features, and easy to drive! Looks like a Lamborghini, but much better value and much better gas mileage!
Sleek looking.
Small interior, cargo area, lower mpg then gen 4

I have had five Priuses. I traded my Tesla model Y for this new 2024 LTD 4wd Prius. I get 43 mpg pretty regularly . The TESLA WAS A MUCH BETTER VEHICLE IN EVERY WAY. Furthermore, after the deal, my dealer told me that only one key was available right now but iI would receive another in a few weeks. That was three months ago! It is supposed to run from my phone. It does not. I can’t wait to trade it on a new Tesla.
