Positive Review
I purchased a 2020 Toyota Highlander Platinum. Love the vehicle so far. Rides great and has lots of safety equipment. One major problem that Toyota does not want you to know. The Platinum and Limited will not accept a tow hitch from factory or after market. Seems that they installed some sensors for the foot control of the lift gate in the area where the hitch would be installed. I contacted Toyota to see what could be changed to allow the hitch to be installed. They said they were sorry nothing can be done . You have to purchase an XLE model if you want a hitch. I cannot believe that they won't make some engr. change to enable a hitch installation.
Critical Review
I’ve driven the highlander for 3 weeks. The heater core broke, lost 1/2 gallon of coolant, it was overheating when slowing down and no warm air inside the cabin at all. I’ve had the car for 3 weeks and 908 miles. I expect better quality for a $50,000 vehicle! I know I have warranty but we all know what overheating can do in the long run. So any “patch” work they do will not change the fact that it already has a problem and the value of this Toyota is not the same anymore.

Bought our 2023 Highlander AWD XLE in April 2023. Live in the Chicago area. Have driven it loaded with bikes, kayak and Tule roof box to Arizona and Maine. Great traveling vehicle with great ride and good gas mileage (27 miles per gallon). Largest vehicle we have ever purchased. Meets our needs well. We have two other vehicles, sedan and Miata which we drive in the city because parking spots are smaller making parking the Highlander a bit of a challenge. Have owned 3 previous SUVs and we like the Highlander the best. We have had zero technical issues with the vehicle. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a reliable midsized SUV.
Drives smooth, powerful engine, spaceous and looks good! The sporty look on the car really makes it a one of a kind as well as being equipped with great technology!

Overpriced, Resale value, Reliability
Does not hold it's value very well. The v-6 is one of the biggest problems. Not many people looking for a suv with a v6 now days. Costly repairs, exspensive for maintenance. Not very comfortable on long road trips. We traded our vehicle for a new truck that holds a better value.
Well known UA80 transmission failures affecting several year models (in and out of warranty) of Highlander. Current Nationwide backorder (several hundred transmissions) status for replacement transmissions with estimated customer wait times of several months. Owners have vehicles still valued at $25k plus and can't sell due to bad transmission and can't fix/drive for several months due to massive backorder status.

Great vehicle.
Comfortable, roomy , reliable
None that I know of
I was able to search for cars with specific features and narrow my search down to a handful of cars . It was easy to save the cars I wanted to look into more with a favorites list . From that list I test drove the cars and found the exact one I wanted !
An excellent choice for a small family car, you will not be disappointed. It offers remarkable fuel efficiency.
Ease of use with features e.g. Apple Carplay
Must add running boards and mud flaps
I bought this 2022 Highlander XLE a month ago in the DFW area after experiencing a crash in my 2015 Highlander XLE. Not only am I thrilled with the improved ease of use in features, the gas mileage appears better than before my purchase.
