Corolla Cross 2024 L Review: A Reliable, Practical, and Comfortable Choice I’ve been driving the 2024 Corolla Cross L (gas version) for 12,000 miles, including 10,000 miles on highways in just three months, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made. Here’s why: What I Needed in a Car: 1. Reliability: A vehicle that performs in all conditions—snow, rain, or shine. 2. Safety: Peace of mind for daily commutes and long trips. 3. Durability: An engine that’s built to last, even in extreme scenarios. 4. Affordability: A car that offers great value for money. 5. Fuel Efficiency: I’m getting 39 mpg on highways and 33 mpg in the city, which is excellent. 6. Spaciousness and Maneuverability: Ample space with easy handling. 7. Comfortable Ride: Great seating position, no discomfort during long drives, and a smooth ride. 8. Simple Interior Design: A clean, functional dashboard without unnecessary flair. The Corolla Cross ticks all these boxes. Driving Experience: The Corolla Cross is not about high-performance thrills but about practicality, reliability, and comfort. It’s perfect for someone with a 9-to-5 lifestyle who wants a hassle-free vehicle for commuting and long drives. Addressing Common Misconceptions: 1. Highway Performance: Some say it struggles on highways—this is entirely false. I’m a frequent highway driver, and the Corolla Cross performs exceptionally well. Overtaking is smooth, stability is excellent, and there’s no sign of struggle at highway speeds. 2. Acceleration and Engine Sound: While it’s not a sports car, the Corolla Cross provides adequate acceleration for city and highway driving. The engine does make some noise during acceleration, but it’s quiet once cruising. This is typical of direct fuel injection engines and is not an issue. It’s designed for efficiency and comfort, not racing. 3. Interior Quality: The interior might not have soft-touch materials, but it’s durable and well-built. There’s no rattling, and the plastics feel sturdy and long-lasting—perfect for a vehicle designed to go the distance. Final Thoughts: The Corolla Cross L is an excellent choice for those seeking a reliable, simple, and comfortable car that’s easy to maintain and great for daily use. It’s not meant to cater to thrill-seekers or luxury enthusiasts, but for practical drivers, it’s a perfect fit. Test drive one yourself, and you’ll see how well it meets the needs of everyday drivers. has context menu

Critical Review
Test drove LE in Clermont FL and car struggled climbing small incline and engine struggled. Nice car but needs bigger engine than Corolla had, maybe due to weight of over 3100 lbs. Dealer also wanted $4,000 over MSRP. Said Toyota is worth more than any other car. Have owned 8 Toyotas and never paid more than it would have costed for different car. I also checked and Kia and VW are asking MSRP and dealer fee of $499 to $99[

I enjoy everything about my 2025 XLE hybrid Corolla Cross. The handling, acceleration, and the high mpg’s. The only thing I can say I dislike is the lack of a spare tire and the engine noise when I need to quickly accelerate to pass a car. The interior parts are plastic and feel cheap but it is not a Lexus so let us keep it real.
I didn’t have a chance to find any pros.
Faulty safety issues, unreliable in lane assist, no help from Toyota or the dealership, breach of contract, unsafe for families
I’d like to report to be very careful with lane assist. Not to mention if you get near anything, you can barely hear a beep- it’s so faint, though it should have stayed on the road. The black box in the car suggested the ABS was on, but not activated. I took the car in after buying it fully in November with 11,000 miles. The seatbelt suspension didn’t go off, nor the airbags as it “happened to vast at a certain velocity”. I took it back to the dealership twice the week I bought it and the second week saying I did not feel comfortable with these safety features. The model they tried to sell me was the hybrid model or at least told me the features would be that of a different model. Toyota is unwilling to help in anyway. I also looked at trade-in options and they said my Vin was invalid at the time of the crash and the milage is not accurate with what they have. I have the Toyota app in real time as well as the EDR reports that show what I see as the mileage. My first service appointment, the mileage was thousands above.
GREAT GAS MILEAGE 48 TO 54 MPG GOOD HANDLING CAR VERY COMFORTABLE TO DRIVE VERY DEPENDABLE AUTO ON ANY TYPE TRAIL
pretty
9 mpg short trips around town
It's not suitable for my needs. I bought a new 2026 Corolla Cross, red, AWD from Toyota of Cleveland Tenn a month ago and now it has around 400 miles on it. I'm not happy with my mistake. I wanted a hybrid but but this is all they had in stock and it wasn't possible to order what I wanted so I'm stuck with it. Almost all my trips are very short, one mile or less so the engine hasn't warmed up enough to lean out the air fuel ratio therefore I average around 9 mpg to the doctor's office and back. It's too late to turn back now. I'm 77 years old and have diabetes so I'll not have to be bothered with it much long. Maybe next year gasoline prices will return to normal. BTW I knew it would use more fuel for short trips around town but I didn't think it would be this bad. I wasted my money.
Not happy with interior car noise! You hear a lot of the under carriage noise, hope they address this issue with the next Corolla Cross generation to come otherwise I would recommend the car because it has been a good car so far.
My car is in good condition. I have never had any condition concerns. It has always had its oil changed on time.
Great gas milage comfortable ride
Limited space back
Well I never belive what they say that 2 litter engine is underpower ,Ive taken my 2025 toyota cross over bakersfild greatvine and went 70 with only half gas pedal and would go faster but i never go over speed limit ,and is not noisy as experts say it is ,often wonder if this experts have ride a touota cross
The side view mirrors on this car are mounted too low and when folded in have less then 1/8 inch between the metal door and the lower part of the mirror leading to denting and scratchinvg is the door. Toyota will not take accountability for this and will not cover the cost to repair the damage or change the poorly chosen mounting location of the side mirror. Most vehicles have a wider stop gap between the door/window and are mounted above the metal. This is an obvious manufacturing error and needs to be corrected. I would not buy this car if you park in cities or your parking area requires use of the manual folding of the side mirrors as damage to the door is highly likely.
