"A great car"

I traded in my 2018 Tesla long range dual motor 3 for a Y several weeks ago. I loved my model 3. It was my favorite car in 25 years of owning cars. Fantastic torque and driving, hugged the road like a race car fantastic tech. That said, it was a small sedan and both my spouse and large dog disliked it. Also it had low clearance from the rural dirt roads in my town. So the X got traded in and a new Y arrived in January of 21. It has exceeded my expectations. Drives tight with great torque like the 3 but I am higher up Now it feels like a SUV. The AWD dual motors are great in the snow and the car feels remarkably solid. You can tell it is a bit heavier than the model 3 but I still reach 60mph in 4.8 seconds. Wow. The 325 mile range is terrific. It is higher off the ground than the model 3 allowing better clearance on our rural roads. By January all the fit and finish issues appear resolved. The car was perfect. There is now ample room in the hatchback design for the dog and whatever else I need. A breakthrough EV that is a blast to drive.

"Quality issues"

Picked up our brand new Tesla y from the dealership and immediately noticed significant panel alignment issues. Dealership tried their best to fix them but now the driver side door does not close properly. Disappointing especially considering the price point.

Awesome car

This refresh made this the best ev on the market. I have driven several long drives and it makes it fun. My rule was 7+ hours I would fly. That's up to 9 hours.

Best car I ever owned - again!

Earlier this year, Tesla sent me a letter with an offer on my 2021 Model Y LR that I could not refuse. The trade in was great, and the Federal Tax Credit was still on, so I jumped! I absolutely loved my first Tesla, the 2021 Model Y. And I have to say that replacing it came with just a little trepidation. I was afraid I would miss the shift stalk (thankfully the turning stalk had been restored), and I didn't quite understand how it would work on my new car. But it was simple - just a bar on the screen that is easy to use. Would I prefer the old method? Yes, I still miss the stalk, but this works fine. Overall the '2025-'26 Model Y Long Range is the same car but with much more refinement. The first is the rear screen, which I never would even have noticed, but our 8-year old twin grand boys absolutely love it! They ask if we will just let them sit in the car and play games, which we occasionally do, under supervision of course. But the whole experience is just more smooth. The ride is still firm but much softer, absorbing the bumps with dignity. The noise level is noticeably lower, contributing to an overall driving experience is even better than before. And the automatic rear seats are a game changer! I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised! Are there changes I would like to see? Yes, certainly. The door handles are still difficult for non-Tesla drivers and would greatly benefit from being lighted. Personally, I'd like to see a little less emphasis on the idea that the car will do it all and more concentration on having it do what the driver needs to make life simpler. I'm not yet convinced that I will ever use Full Self Driving - certainly my test drives have not been a positive experience. But Autopilot is pretty good, and I do find myself using it on the motorway. At first I was completely confused by the simple on-screen interface, but now I am spoiled to the point that all the instruments and controls on an 'ICE' car seem confusing. That's not to say that there should never be some buttons. I feel as if the effort to simplify things have made some functions a bit more difficult. In closing I do have a wish list, in addition to the lighted door handles. The first one is CarPlay, which I understand may finally be in the works! The other is the big Achilles heel of the Model Y - rear visibility. Even the lowly Chevy Bolt has a terrific electronic rear view 'mirror.' For a tech company like Tesla to miss this is a bit of a head scratcher. So overall, the new Model Y is a great car and should make any driver happy. And it will continue to improve as all those over the air software updates keep coming!

Pros

Almost everything

Cons

Customer service needs work

I have had this car for about four months and put 3200 miles on it and this is the best driving car I’ve ever had in my life! Technology is very intuitive and plentiful. I love the beta push outs and the constant updates that make this car better almost on a daily basis. Absolutely loving the new grok push out. The interior is very plush and luxurious and It is very solid. It handles well, accelerates fast and smooth. If I had one complaint, It’s TESLA’s customer service is not as quick to respond. Sometimes have to contact them repeatedly in order to get a response. But the car is built so well and is so much fun to drive! Hoping to drive this for many hundreds of thousands of miles as I’ve just seen some of these cars(teslas) have over 400,000 miles on them. And I love not paying for gas and the charging network has been seamless. I’m able to travel without worrying about range. Way to go TESLA!

Pros

Pretty much everything.

Cons

I do wish it came with a heads up display like the Model X and S. The battery drain can drop a bit faster than I would like.

The 2026 Model Y is honestly one of the best daily drivers out there. It’s comfortable, stylish, and incredibly quiet. The build quality feels solid, and the cabin noise is so well-insulated that driving feels calm and relaxing. I really like the updated exterior too. It finally looks like its own thing instead of just a taller Model 3. The sound system was a big deal for me, and the built-in subwoofer with deep bass does not disappoint. I went with the AWD dual motor, and the acceleration is wild. It feels like I could take off faster than almost anything else on the road. Merging onto highways or passing slower traffic is effortless. Personally, I think the Model Y is a smarter buy than the Model X. You’re getting most of the same features but for way less money. No real complaints so far, aside from the upfront cost being a little steep and some concern about Tesla depreciation. But I plan to keep this car for the long haul, so that shouldn’t be too big of a deal. At the end of the day, it’s not a zero-sum game. Sometimes you just have to pay to play.

Silver bullet

I recently bought a 2025 tesla model y awd I was watching the discounts on the 25 model y in stock prior to the refreshed model coming out. Starting price of 49999,got a discount of 5000 plus the military discount of 1000 plus a referral discount of 500 then the fed credit of 7500 So ended up paying 35999 I love the cars handling, storage, acceleration, and cost to operate. I do wish Android auto was an option I did take the car in for service for a interior trim problem that was incredible easy and kinda fun I received a notice that the service had been completed and the car ready for pickup,I actually used the summon feature on my phone and the car pulled up to the front of the dealership waiting area. Totally new age service department process and new age automobile

I Love my model Y LR

This has been the most enjoyable car I have ever owned. Unfortunately Elon went bananas and this is dragging down the popularity and value for these vehicles. It is a great car for road trips, the Tesla charging network always works. The car has not given me any problems in 24,000 miles driven. I love the simplicity and honestly I do not miss the lack of buttons. I charge it at home and leave the house every day with a "full tank". One pedal driving is great. I subscribe to Full Self Driving which is now very good. Power is fantastic, could have a slightly softer suspension but the seats are some of the most comfortable I have ever had in a car.
