2024 Subaru Crosstrek Consumer Reviews

My previous Subarus had transmission issues, so I got the extended warranty on my new 2026 Crosstrek Premium. I'll review again after winter driving. I had my previous Subarus for 12 and 8 years and they never failed me and were awesome other than I guess I need to get maintenance done on tranny's by the dealership to warranty. So far I love it! I can't find a sweet spot yet with the seat, I'll keep trying. Head room seems closer than my impreza that I loved, but it was too low to the ground. Goldstein was nice and fair at $31,750 and an ok trade in at $8,000 as impreza was 8 years old.

My second Crosstrek and I loved it until driving it after dark this weekend. The low beam headlights are dangerously unsafe. I live in a rural area, few street lights and some fairly twisty roads. Low beams only illuminate about 30 feet ahead and maybe 6 feet high. If a deer was on the side of the road you wouldn't see it until much too late and no way would you have tome to stop! I can't believe this is acceptable from a safety standpoint. High beams are better but not as good as my previous car, which by the way was also a Subaru. Not sure what to do but may think about trading after only having this car 2 months.

First subie and absolutely love it! It just drives so smoothly with the hybrid powertrain, and I love the size and styling. Criticism of the infotainment system is way overblown. I originally planned to only own the car for a few years until the new infotainment system pushed down to the Crosstrek, but I'm now thinking of keeping it long-term.

Fell in love with this car immediately on the test drive. Rock solid, great handling and simply love the design and look of it. After one year I am averaging 33-34 mpg and have driven it in all kinds of weather including snow and ice. Subaru AWD works flawlessly. Much better than Kia AWD that I traded. This one is a long term keeper.

Great solid car, very comfortable, over 30 mpg, 4 wheel drive, moonroof. All the comforts you need. Nice!

I own two Crosstrek's currently (2014 Premium, 2022 Sport) and have a 2026 Sport on order. These cars are such a bargain for what you get. Incredible AWD, comfortable, fun to drive, reliable, and good fuel economy for a full time AWD vehicle. My 2014 has over 175K miles and still going strong. I have handed down these cars to my kids when they turn 16, and feel secure knowing they are driving a safe reliable vehicle that will keep going well into the future.

As the steering wheel is not centered on the driver you're sitting crooked the whole time you're driving. So your butt and/or your back will hurt at the end of any trip. The cruise control can't decide if it should brake or accelerate. If you go 1 mille over what it's set to, it's gonna hit the breaks. Now you're going 2 miles slower then what it's set to so it has to accelerate. The entertainment system is garbage. Screen so big half of it is always empty. And yet the buttons are so small you need to take your eyes of the road and concentrate on hitting the button you want. Then the lack is so bad you don't know if you hit it. In some instances it takes 4 seconds for it to react. The wireless charging sometimes works sometimes it doesn't. No lights in the trunk unless you pay extra $140 to have it installed. No air vents in the back seats and no chargers either. The only good things about this car is the AWD, the suspension and the lights.

I've owned a lot of cars over the years--from BMWs to 300Zs--and after driving the Subaru Crosstrek for nearly a decade now, I can confidently say it stands in a league of its own. It's the perfect balance of size, shape, practicality, and everyday performance. I was never chasing high performance--I wanted something reliable, comfortable, and capable in all conditions--and the Crosstrek has consistently delivered, whether I'm navigating city streets, cruising the highway, or taking on backroads. I recently traded up to the Crosstrek Limited Hybrid, and even after just a few days, all I can say is: WOW. The previous models were great handlers, but this one takes it to another level. It feels incredibly smooth, connected to the road, and surprisingly comfortable--even over Chicago potholes. It's refined without losing that fun, capable feel that makes the Crosstrek so enjoyable to drive.
