2022 Rivian R1T Consumer Reviews

I like a lot about this truck, but the backup camera is a real problem. I timed it on video at 10.8 seconds from shifting into reverse to the camera picture showing up. The federal limit is 2.0 seconds. It happens on software 2026.23 and newer, which Rivian says fixes its September camera recall. My truck backed into a pole when the camera didn't come up, and Rivian denied my claim. I filed NHTSA complaint 11770232. If you own one, time yours.

Without hesitation this is the best vehicle, including 5 different pickup trucks, that I have ever owned. It just works. Great useability, capability, and performance. The size is perfect to fit in the garage plus haul a family of 4 (including car seats), with so much more storage than a typical pickup. Highly recommend for anyone even thinking about it.

They say they are a tech company not a car company. Well the tech does not fail safe and thing will beep for hours which is enough to drive a person crazy. They arnt a great tech company and they are obviously a horrible car company. Over priced too small and my Ford ranger has more room and better tech. No shade on sunroof no opening the sun roof. Does NOT fail safe. I am definitely suffering from buyers remorse because of this.

I sue my truck for leisure (including mild off-roading) and the eventual hauling. Riving is the perfect size for my applications. Performance is tremendous. Car was build very well, the suspension is a work of art. I love how it looks, I am still enamored of it after 4 years and spend nothing on maintenance (other then tires). Charging is very convenient, in special now that I can use Tesla's network. Everything work in the car like it did when i first bought it. It handles everything I throw at it. This is the best vehicle I ever owned.

Once you drive one of these, all of your other vehicles will feel outdated The fact that you can tow anything you want and also go 0-60 in 3 seconds is a combination that is wild. They also send updates about once per month to add features and improvements in the performance. I've owned 3 other EVs and this is the best yet. Only annoying item is that the closest service center is 2.5 hours away. Luckily I've only needed to take it there twice, other items that have come up have been handled by a mobile unit. Growing pains of a new company.

Fast, strong, and reliable. enough room for 5 average size people. The mobile service is good. Good on the long trips as well as long as you plan the trip. Remember, when the first gasoline cars just came out, people had to go to a grocery store with a bucket to get gasoline. ...so for those who are still crying about charging networks, don't be a baby and use common sense and your brain. Most of the time you charge it at home, like a cell phone at night. In the morning you got over 300 mile range. At the superchargers, you spend no more than 20-30 min on long trips. Also, stop complaining that you want to fill up and go. (like you do :) ) Do you need to eat or go to the bathroom? That's enough time to get at least 100 miles of range. So.. no complaints about this truck. Not to mention, that it is the first vehicle from the brand new company. Tesla is still not anywhere near Rivian on the built quality.

My Rivian R1T was delivered in July 9,2022. 8,300 miles. No problems or mechanical issues besides the paint chip and minor adjustment with the front air suspension uneven when parked which was corrected. Other than that I'm very happy with my R1T. My R1S is coming soon. I wish I can keep both Rivian's but can't have my 16y/o drive one of them for their 1st car. Awesome Truck.

This is my 5th pickup truck since 1995. How times have changed. Great truck from a new company. Faster than almost anything on real roads and better off-road than most other vehicles. Owned for almost 1 year and no complaints except distance to service center if needed. I would definitely buy a Rivian again at this point.
