A Look Inside the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5

While electric vehicle sales had been on the rise, the arrival of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 a few years ago pushed them forward. The 2025 Ioniq 5 keeps the momentum going with its unique mix of head-turning exterior styling and excellent performance.

The standard-range base model SE with rear-wheel drive (RWD) can travel up to 245 miles on a full charge. The SEL and Limited versions enjoy bigger batteries, and as a result, more range: 318 miles. If you want more traction, you can opt all-wheel drive (AWD) and still get up to 290 miles of range.

The Ioniq 5 has room for five passengers and can be had in a variety of styles and powertrains. Power output ranges from 168 horsepower in base models to an astounding 641 hp in the high-performance Ioniq 5 N, which can do zero to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds.

It’s a looker on the outside, so let’s see what the Hyundai Ioniq 5 offers inside.

Passenger Room and Comfort

While it has two rows and room for five, the Ioniq 5 enjoys a longer wheelbase than the 3-row Hyundai Palisade SUV, which means it’s spacious inside. Since it’s an EV, the entire floor is flat, allowing designers to maximize the interior space.

With 106.5 cubic feet of space for five people, the attention-getter might be the available driver relaxation comfort seat. In the short-ish time it takes to recharge an Ioniq 5, drivers can relax by reclining their power-adjustable seat and extending the leg support — like an airplane seat in business class. This is exclusive to the Limited trim, though.

Second-row passengers need not fret about space or comfort, as the rear seats in all Ioniq 5 variants are designed to recline and slide forward or backward.

Features and Tech

If you’re driving an electric vehicle, you can expect plenty of readily available technology, and the Ioniq 5 is no different. Starting with the 12.3-inch driver information screen and the 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, designers made sure that both were easy to see and, in the case of the infotainment screen, easy to access. They can also be customized to suit the preferences of the owner.

If you move up to the SEL model, wireless device charging is standard. In Limited and XRT trims, that wireless charger sits on a sliding center console. The center console can be moved forward or backward depending on the needs of the first- or second-row passengers.

After initially being a wired connection, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can now be connected wirelessly. A Wi-Fi hotspot is standard issue, and you get three months free to try it out.

Of course, the safety and convenience tech includes various options, such as the Highway Driving Assist 2, Hands-On Detection (HOD) steering wheel, Lane Following Assist, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, and parking sensors on the front, back, and sides of the car.

Materials and Design

The Ioniq 5 features a premium look and feel, once you get up into the SEL range and higher. The SE trim seats are stain-resistant cloth, but if you upgrade to the SEL or better, they get H-Tex trimmed seats. Regardless of material, heated front seats are standard across the board.

Hyundai redesigned the dashboard for 2025, giving it a simpler, cleaner look and feel. There’s a good mix of physical buttons and touch-based controls. Overall, it’s an airy, open cabin with quality materials.

Cargo Room and Flexibility

The Ioniq 5 offers plenty of cargo space. It starts with 26.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats to 58.5 cubic feet when folded flat. It is one of the most practical layouts in its class. Additionally, there’s also a storage area under the hood. It’s just under one cubic foot so you can fit much up there, but it is available.

The second-row seats split 60/40, accommodating longer objects while still allowing for a third or even a fourth passenger along for the ride.
