The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle (EV) makes its reappearance after being absent from Chevrolet’s lineup for four years. Chevy has stated, however, that the Bolt will be available for a “limited time.” The Bolt design has not changed significantly since its inception and will be familiar to Bolt enthusiasts, but much has changed under the skin.
Chevy aims to bring drivers an affordable electric vehicle (EV) starting at $28,995 (destination fee included) for the Bolt LT, and the sporty RS trim starts at $32,995. The LT can be built with most of the same options as the RS trim, but with a less sporty appearance. Let’s look at what you get on the new 2027 Chevy Bolt RS trim.

Exterior Refresh

The RS trim is all new for the Bolt as part of the redesign for the 2027 model year, though it retains its recognizable footprint. Chevy did change a few things, adding black plastic trim to complement the RS’s blackout features. There are bright color options, but the Atomic Yellow exterior with red interior accent stitching is available only on the RS trim. There is an additional charge to sport this color of $395. We test-drove each car color, and the Habanero received rave reviews.
Clutter-free Cabin

Moving into the interior of the RS trim, drivers will notice it is not sparse, but open. The layout is clean, with an open console and storage underneath. The shifter has been moved to the column, and there are physical climate control knobs and buttons. The Bolt RS has a black interior with Evotex, a sporty cloth-like material, heated and ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Safety and Technology

The Bolt RS comes with many standard driver assistance safety features, including rear automatic braking and rear cross-traffic alert. Add the technology package to the RS trim for surround vision cameras, which doubles as a built-in dashcam, pretty sweet if you ask us. Wireless phone charging, rain-sensing wipers, and a rear camera mirror round out the tech package. The Super Cruise package is available and, we must say, much improved, with hands-free driving assistance on pre-mapped roads.
Chevy decided to make the 2027 Bolt the first vehicle in their lineup to offer a native NACS charging port, making it easier than ever to find public charging. The Bolt supports DC fast charging, and, according to Chevy, charging is two-and-a-half times faster than on prior Bolt models.
