The 2026 Mazda CX-70 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) enters its second production year with no physical changes, yet sees a significant price drop, strengthening its position in the midsize 2-row SUV segment. Mazda discontinued the Premium and Premium Plus trims and replaced them with SC and SC Plus models. This is a plus for consumers, as it drops the price of the CX-70 PHEV by almost $10,000 compared to last year. This year’s model also benefits from additional electric-only range, increasing to an EPA-estimated 30 miles from 26 the year prior.

Mazda leans into its signature upscale premium interiors and its sporty design. The PHEV CX-70 SC is chock-full of amenities, but some of our favorite features are exclusive to the CX-70 PHEV SC Plus trim. Here’s what stands out the most.

Eye-Catching Design

The Mazda CX-70 PHEV is a looker. From its sloped roofline and long hood to its large greenhouse and impressive wheelbase, the CX-70 PHEV is a standout in this segment. The blacked-out badging, black honeycomb grille, and black roof rails add character.

The SC Plus trim standard color is Jet Black Mica. For $595, you can make the CX-70 PHEV really pop by choosing one of the following premium colors: Rhodium White, Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Zircon Sand Metallic, or Polymetal Gray Metallic.

Safety and Technology

The CX-70 PHEV SC Plus comes with Mazda’s i-Activesense safety suite, which includes blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and radar cruise control with stop-and-go function. Exclusive to the SC Plus trim is a secondary collision reduction system and front and rear parking sensors. Standard features include wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. What separates the CX-70 PHEV SC Plus is the little touches of class, like front footwell lighting and active driving display.

Upscale Interior

If you are paying for anything with the label of premium, or in this case, plus, you should expect higher quality, and the CX-PHEV delivers. Only available on the SC Plus are Greige leather seats, best described as a cross of beige and gray, accompanied by a matching leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel. Your other interior color option is black leather. The front seats are heated and ventilated, and the rear seats are heated.

Other comfort and convenience features for the rear passengers include 3-zone automatic climate control, USB-C ports, and retractable window shades.
