The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle is back with some significant updates and changes compared to the old Bolt EV and Bolt EUV that were discontinued in 2023. Hitting dealerships in early 2026 as a 2027 model, the new Chevy Bolt is GM’s lowest-priced electric vehicle in North America, starting at $29,990, including the destination fee. The Bolt is once again an EV for the masses that’s truly affordable.
Here are some of our favorite features and technologies in the all-new 2027 Chevy Bolt.
Excellent EV Value
Chevrolet has reintroduced the Bolt with a mission: to keep electric driving accessible. The 2027 Bolt delivers up to an impressive GM-estimated 255 miles of electric range in both the LT and RS trims, making it one of the most capable EVs under $30,000. That’s a huge win for buyers who want to go electric without breaking the bank.
Plus, the battery chemistry this time around is LFP, or Lithium Iron Phosphate, which helps keep the cost down. This allows for consistent, full charging of the battery without risk of harming its long-term health, thereby providing full access to its full range without undue degradation woes or the thermal risks that plagued the first-generation Bolt EV.
Native NACS Charge Port
GM is gradually making the switch from the Combined Charging System (CCS) port to the North American Charging System (NACS) port, which is the one that’s compatible with the Tesla Supercharger and IONNA networks. The Bolt is the first Chevy model to feature a native NACS port, opening up more charging options at home and on the road. It’s a small detail with a big impact, ensuring Bolt drivers can plug into the rapidly expanding charging network.
The charging speed itself is also commendable, capable of charging at 150 kilowatts from 10% to 80% in 26 minutes, allowing for road trip capability far beyond the original Bolt’s limits.
Google Built-In
Chevy has integrated Google built-In across its lineup, meaning Google Maps navigation, Google Assistant voice commands, and select Play Store apps are seamlessly part of the car’s infotainment system. It’s intuitive, modern, and eliminates the need to juggle your phone while driving. However, Chevy also removed Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from the car’s list of features, which is something to keep in mind if these are must-have connectivity features for you.
Super Cruise
The previous Chevy Bolt was available with Super Cruise, but only in select trims of the EUV model, and it used the old map software. The new Bolt builds on it with a full suite for modern hands-free Super Cruise functionality that’s more widely available and has many more highway miles mapped for hands-free driving. However, it adds considerable cost to the entry-level price. It costs $3,255 for Super Cruise, plus $1,195 to $1,695 (depending on trim) for the required Technology Package. That said, the Chevy Bolt is still one of America’s most affordable vehicles offering hands-free highway driving capability.
Improved Digital Displays
Inside, the Bolt gets a refreshed cabin with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and a larger 11.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen. Together, they make it easy to monitor range, charging status, and entertainment without clutter. It’s a tech-forward setup that feels premium despite the Bolt’s budget-friendly price and nicely improves on the previous generation’s 8-inch and 10.2-inch displays.
Why It Matters
The Bolt’s return is proof that affordable EVs can still pack in range, tech, and convenience that buyers are looking for. Chevy listened to fans after discontinuing the previous Bolt, and the 2027 model shows they took that feedback seriously.
