A Look Inside the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan

2025 Volkswagen Tiguan on the road.

For the 2025 model year, Volkswagen remade the Tiguan, its best-selling vehicle, with the biggest changes coming inside the cabin. The third-generation model features bigger screens, one fewer row of seats, and four trim levels: S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and SEL R-Line.

Volkswagen gave the Tiguan a new look and feel for the cabin based on its larger sibling, the Atlas. The new version focuses on the larger infotainment screen, while a slew of soft-touch materials dominate the space.

The Tiguan’s competition includes the Honda CR-VToyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson.

Let’s take a look inside the new, third-generation Volkswagen Tiguan.

Passenger Room and Comfort

The biggest change is the elimination of the third row, reducing the available seats from seven to five. However, those five enjoy more overall space, including a 2-inch increase in second-row leg room over last year’s model.

Front-seat passengers now enjoy heated seats as standard equipment, making chilly days more comfortable. Once you move up to the SE, an 8-way power seat with 2-way power lumbar becomes standard.

In the second row, standard rear air vents and dual-zone climate control — which can be 3-zone climate control — make it easier to regulate the temperature, regardless of the season. In the top-of-the-line SEL R-Line, the second-row seats are also heated.

Features and Tech

As mentioned, the big change on the inside is the focus on bigger screens. The new model gets a standard 12.9-inch touchscreen, which can be optioned up to 15 inches in the pricier trim levels.

New for 2025 is the Atmospheres function, which combines synchronized ambient lighting and audio system settings to help set a mood or feel for the cabin. This is a feature often found in luxury vehicles, although it often involves fragrances, which is not the case in the Tiguan. It comes with preset offerings, such as Lounge, Joy, Energetic, and more. Drivers can also create their mood. This works with the standard 7-speaker sound system as well as the 12-speaker, 700-watt Harman Kardon system available on the SEL R-Line model.

VW offers plenty of safety tech, including an automatic post-collision braking system, intelligent crash response system. It also provides IQ.Drive as standard with semi-automated driving assistance, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, and more.

Materials and Design

In its base form, the Tiguan’s seats are fitted with embossed cloth seats. If you move up to the SE and SE R-Line, leatherette seating surfaces with CloudTex accents are available. Once at the top of the range, perforated Varenna quilted leather is paired with American walnut wood trim and double stitching on the wrapped center console to give a near-luxury feel.

Designers use light to convey a premium feel in the Tiguan’s cabin. There are 10 colors available in the lower trims, while the SEL R-Line features a backlit dash and door panels lit with 30 color choices.

Cargo Room and Flexibility

The Tiguan is a decent hauler of people and stuff. With 60/40-split second row seats that fold flat, there is plenty of flexibility for carrying items of varying sizes and shapes. With the seats up, 23 cubic feet of space sits behind the second row. That expands to a little more than 58 cubic feet with both seats folded flat.

Additionally, there are also plenty of small spaces inside the vehicle, including a sizeable center console, to store everyday carry items.
