2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA with EQ Technology Interior Review

The third-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA rides on the company’s new MMA platform, which gives it more overall length and a longer wheelbase than prior generations. The cabin is, as a result, more accommodating for passengers. It’s also finally constructed in a way more fitting of a vehicle with a Mercedes logo on the hood. We’ve found some modern Mercedes cars to tend to squeak and rattle here and there, and there’s some of that here, but the new CLA feels a cut above its predecessors. You will no longer feel like you might be making a compromise when you get into the brand’s entry-level model. The fit and finish of materials now seem to be at the same standard as something like the C-Class or E-Class.

The CLA with EQ Technology has plenty of headroom for an average-sized 5-foot-9-inch driver. Rear visibility sees improvements from the previous generation thanks to new daylight openings just past the rear doors. The new dashboard design also keeps the view forward relatively clear.

Adding Mercedes’ lovely massaging function to the front seats can be done à la carte for only $50 — less than the cost of a single massage session. All CLA models come with a built-in selfie camera and a fixed panoramic glass moonroof.

The back seats feel tight, perhaps a tad less so than prior CLA generations. Seating behind an average driver’s position doesn’t leave much space for long legs. However, thanks to the completely flat floor, foot room feels more usable.

The electric CLA’s trunk capacity eclipses that of larger sedans, including Mercedes’ own full-size S-Class. With 14.3 cubic feet of cargo space in the back, plus a 2.5-cubic-foot frunk (front trunk), this little sedan comes standard with surprising cargo-carrying abilities.
