Positive Review
This is by far the best truck of the 13 I have owned. I usually buy a new truck every 18 months. I drive a lot of miles both country roads and highway. It is the best fuel mileage as well. I have a gas engine and have installed k & n and I average 18 mph highway 15.8 country/city. Very nice standard features. I have not had 1 issue with this truck. I used to drive Chevy, had issues that had to FIGHT Chevy for coverage, then switched to ford and got very good at replacing ball joints. Haven't touched this or my last Dodge. Last one had 60,000 miles with original tires, brakes etc.
Critical Review
ARRGH. At 30,000 the transmission in my 2012 Dodge RAM top of the line pickup failed. Some transmission pump hadn't been put in correctly at the factory. I was stranded. Had to rent a car to get home. I don't think a $50,000 vehicle should do that at 30000 mile.

Powerful to tow big 5th wheel trailers
DEF sensor issues.
I purchased the 2014 Ram 2500 diesel with 50K miles and ran it to 182k miles and sold it. I pulled a 5h wheel camper, snowmobile trailer and snowplowed with it. The turbo actuator went go out at 160K miles and replaced it with Geno's garage actuator and it worked great. The Cummins diesel never used oil since I had it for 10 years. The only issue I had was the g light from the DEF system with this or that DEF sensor thru the years. It was a great truck I traded it in for a low mileage used 2023 Ram diesel hoping for the same life span as my 2014 truck. I purchased the extended warrantee to cover any expensive repair bills for years to come. So far, I love my 2023 Ram diesel.
Best design within the decade IMO…and runs like a top every time I get in it. Might as well call this truck a Toyota…because you can’t break it or damage it.
Nothing
Constant repairs
Bought used at 19k miles. At 80K miles the A/C unit had to be replaced. 2 weeks later the DEF pump went out. Defective radio was draining the battery - the truck sat for 2 days or more it needed to be jumped. Power window control had to be replaced. It now has 121,500 miles the turbocharger needs to be replaced - over $10,000 cost.
Best truck I've ever had this is they 5th dodgeram 2500 I've owned
Good for pulling or towing or work vehicle i use it for roofing and tree business
Very dependable and trustworthy vehicle i have put 288,000 on it and it's still running 5.7 engin gas motor
4th gen 2013-2018 are best years for diesels...2019 they put hydralic lifters in truck which now are failing. The 4th gen have solid lifters and are bullet proof.
RAM Truck would be ok if they would honor recall and actually get parts to repair issues. Been having ABS control module issues since I bought the truck in 2018 it is 2026 and still have same issue. They issued recall going on 2 years ago but still do not have parts available. This is totally unacceptable stay away from 2018 RAM 2500 unless you want to hear and see constant dinging and warning lights. I contact RAM monthly but only get the run around with excuses.
Smooth ride & dependability
Nothing so far
We didn't want a much newer model than what we bought because we didn't want all the electrical aspects, knob shifter, etc. Found exactly what we were looking for and bought it based on the details offered on this site. Very happy with our purchase and the information provided by KBB.
