Semi-automated driving systems are computer and mechanical driving aids that help with critical aspects of operating a vehicle safely but require a human driver to maintain ultimate control at all times.

Commonly referred to as “drive modes,” selectable vehicle dynamics change the characteristics of the vehicle’s performance based on criteria of the driver’s choosing. The dynamics may include throttle response, transmission shifting, suspension, steering, and traction control.
