Kia Recall History
Over the past few years, Kia cars and crossovers have been recalled for faulty trailer hitch modules, power sliding doors, oil seal leaks, faulty steering systems and improperly assembled accelerator components. Among the highlights:
Kia has recalled 27,029 model year 2017 Kia Niro Hybrid SUVs for a fault with the Hydraulic Clutch Actuator (HCA), where the inner oil seal may leak possibly resulting in an electrical short and increased risk of fire. As the recall is so new, there is no completion rate data at this time.
Kia has a campaign involving 10,212 of their 2017 Sportage models equipped with an accessory trailer hitch that has a faulty module that may cause the trailer brake lights to be constantly illuminated. As of April 2018, there is a completion rate of 62-percent.
There is also a Kia recall of 106,428 model year 2017 Kia Sedona minivans for a power sliding door that may not auto-reverse. The recall began in June 2018. There is no data of completion rates.
Kia also recalled 12,361 model year 2016 Kia Sorento SUVs for an improperly soldered component in the accelerator assembly, that may cause an inability to accelerate the vehicle, resulting in an increased risk of crash. As of July 2016, there was a completion rate of 97-percent.
Over 340,000 2015 Kia Soul and Kia Soul EV SUVs were recalled for a significant fault in the steering system, where the steering gear may separate. The pinion plug may allow the pinion gear to separate from the steering gear assembly, increasing the risk of a crash. As of April 2018, the completion rate stood at 43-percent.
