"Nissan Got it Right with the New 2015 Murano"

I was wowed by the styling of the new Murano and traded in my 2012 SL Murano for the 2015 Platinum version. The interior is absolutely beautiful, comfortable and full of all of the latest safety electronics available. The ride is smoother and quieter than the older model. The panoramic roof actually opens fully as opposed to only about 2/3 with my old Murano. Fit and finish are perfect. I have only 3 minor issues with the new Murano. The first is that automatic windshield wipers are not offered on this car (I had this on my 2012). The second is that although there are 5 programs available through Nissan Connect, this vehicle can only use 1 while an Altima can use all 5. Third, which Nissan has agreed to rectify, is that the 2015 Murano is delivered with a 2013-14 version of the Navigation Map. I had already updated my 2012 to the 2014-15 Map before I traded it in. As of now, the updated map is not available for the 2015 Murano. Nissan has agreed to reimburse me for the cost as soon as it is available and I purchase it. Overall, it is truly a gem of a vehicle and I am sure I will enjoy it very many years to come.

Critical Review

"Technology Package Design Flaw?"

We have had 3 previous Nissans with no issues. Purchased our 2015 Murano SL in Aug 2018 with 28K miles on it from an independent dealer. It was a Nissan Lease return that was originally sold new 3 years and 1 week before our purchase. Within a couple of days of purchase, the Auto Brake light went off on the dash and neither the auto braking nor the cruise control would operate. Turning the car off reset the light and allowed us to use the features. We took the car to the Nissan dealership who inspected it and said the engine position sensor on one of the motor mounts was tripping the warning. The sensor is integrated into one of the motor mounts which the dealer said was wearing out and would cost $1100 to replace. The dealer said if we would have brought it in 2 weeks earlier it would have been covered under warranty (of course the car was stilled owned by Nissan Motor Credit at that time). This light only goes off after 20 to 30 minutes of driving, so a standard test drive may not reveal the problem. To make a long story short, I filed a complaint with Nissan USA stating they had a design problem in that the auto braking feature is a safety feature and integrating one of it's sensors into a part that is designed to wear out was a design flaw. After going back and forth with Nissan USA for several weeks, they decided not to assist in the repair or provide a new motor mount and told us we were on our own. The rep at Nissan USA acknowledged this is a known problem. Obviously, I am not happy with Nissan as this sensor should not have been mounted to the motor mount and their motor mounts should last longer than 28K miles. I have not replaced the motor mount as of yet because I feel at some point I feel this model will be recalled. In addition, this will be the last Nissan vehicle I ever own. I will be sticking with other more reliable brands from manufacturers who value my business. On a side note, I rented a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder two months ago while on a business trip and while driving it, the same light went off and the cruise control/auto braking stopped working. The two vehicles use the same drive train. This is not an isolated incident.

2015 Murano SC

Great car and trouble free. Good gas mileage 25mpg. Great trip car and good for carrying things. The suspension is to soft for the tightness of the steering and it has some body roll when cornering. The "automatic " door locks will drive you crazy! Otherwise, nice car. The interior is very well done and comfortable!

Good Value

Only problem was with a water leak that could not be found. Dealership wanted to charge almost $200.oo just to find the problem, not counting what the cost could be to fix. Overall very reliable.

2017 Nissan Murano that has gone wrong

The main complaint I have with my 2017 Nissan Murano is the cheap leather on the seats. I am the only driver and weigh a 100 pounds. After the third or fourth year I had the car I bought new from the dealer, the seat started cracking on the side. The dealer repaired it and then it cracked again in the same place. Again I got it repaired from the dealer. About 1.5 to 2 years later the same thing is happening again except now there are more places. My 2004 Honda van that had leather seats never did this and I had it for 13 years. It also has a lot of paint chips on the hood from rocks hitting it. I am a city driver 95% of the time. My alternator went out this year and I had to replace it. Now I am keeping my figures cross with the CVT tranmission.

Best car for short people. Technology friendly
Pros

Great for short people, low maintenance costs, reliable, stylish and comfortable

Cons

N/A

When you know, you know. I had a 2015 Murano that I loved. It got totaled when I hit a deer. I loved it so much i thought I'd try the new 2025 Murano. Even was set to take it for an extended test drive. I took it back within 2 hours. Beautiful car but too high tech for me. No buttons only a touch panel even for the A/C. No V6 option, only 4 cylinder with turbo. Don't get me wrong it has some get up and go but it didn't really get any better gas mileage than my 2015 did. 10 years newer and gas mileage was almost identical. Why is that? Idk. It just didn't work for me. I really wanted to like it. Even tried to text drive it in 2 separate days at 2 separate times of day. It just wasnt cutting it. I wanted to like it but i just didn't. I opted to go back to the old body style of the 2024 Murano and couldn't be happier. It just felt like home. Short people fit well in the old style Murano. Anyone short will tell you. Some suv's are hard to get into as we age. They are too far off the ground. Then the headrest hits you in the worst spot and forces your head into your chest. You fight to sit comfortably and actually drive. Fighting the headrest the entire time. Manufacturer's must not have short people as test subjects. Anyhow, the Murano fits the bill. The shape of the exterior is very stylish. Easy to see out of. The technology is awesome even for those who are tech challenged like me. It's got bells and whistles but not so many or too high tech that you can't figure it out. With the V6 engine it has lots of power when you need it. Best car purchase I've ever made. Thank goodness I found an older body style with low miles. My 2015 was 10 years old and had 150,000 miles on it. Reliable, low maintenance costs and never left me stranded. Hoping this one will serve me for a long time to come!

I really like my 2023
Pros

The vehicle looks and runs great.

Cons

The SV model doesn't come with front/surround cameras and no automatic rear hatch opener.

I purchased my 2023 Nissan Murano on July 31, 2025. It rides very nice. The interior is very comfortable, and the V-6 engine has the power needed to get up and down from Phoenix to Heber.

100% Reliable and A Luxury Vehicle

My 2016 Nissan Murano Platinum has been such a reliable and enjoyable car to drive for 140,000 miles. So, when I decided to buy a new car to beat the tariffs, I sold it to my son for him to use as a dependable 2nd car to use for his commute because of its dependability and luxury features that still perform beautifully. I will always be a fan of the 2016 Murano. Excellent vehicle. Sadly, I can’t say that I am a fan of the 2025 version.
